Puttur: Man who killed brother for silly reason gets life term

Puttur, Jun 29: A man who stabbed his elder brother with a screw driver and caused his death was awarded life term imprisonment by the fifth additional district and sessions court here on Wednesday June 28. The younger brother was enraged at the advice given by his elder brother to work and earn a living instead of lazying around, and hence attacked the latter.

Somanath allegedly murdered his elder brother, Ranganath K H, who was living in a rented flat in K M Complex at Bannur Karma in the city. Judge of the court, M Ramachandra, had held Somanath guilty of his brother's murder on Tuesday itself and the case was posted to Wedneday to  decide quantum of punishment.

In addition to life term imprisonment, Somanath has been imposed with fine of Rs 10,000. If he fails to pay fine, he will have to spend additional six months behind the bars. Consecutively, he will undergo seven years imprisonment for attempt to destroy evidence, and pay fine of Rs 5,000. In case of failure to pay fine, he has been ordered to undergo three additional months of imprisonment.

Public proseutorn,M Udayakumar, had appeared on behalf of the prosecution in the case.
