Puttur: Holiday effect - Scores throng Kukke Subrahmanya temple

Puttur, Jun 27 (DHNS): Despite heavy rain in the region, hundreds of devotees visited the Kukke Subrahmanya temple following a series of holidays from Saturday till Monday.

Lakhs of people had the darshan of the temple’s presiding deity Lord Subrahmanya in the past three days.

Scores of devotees thronged the temple on Monday, setting a record during what is considered off-season.

More devotees are expected on Tuesday as well on the auspicious occasion of ‘Ashlesha Nakshatra.’

Several devotees performed ‘Ashlesha Bali’, ‘Shesha Seve,’ ‘Nagaprathishte,’ ‘Mahapuja’ and ‘Panchamrutha Abhisheka’ in fulfilment of their vows. Adi Subrahmanya and Kumaradhara bathing points were also crowded.

Vehicles were lined up from Kumaradhara main entrance till the Car Street, on a three-km stretch. Heavy traffic caused inconvenience to pilgrims. The police tried hard to facilitate easy movement of vehicles.
