'MyPetrolPump': India's first fuel home delivery service launched in Bengaluru

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jun 24: Though online shopping has made life convenient with almost anything being delivered at one’s doorstep, one still has to step out for basic errands, like fueling one’s vehicle.

However, now a Bengaluru based start-up ANB Fuels Private Ltd has come up with ‘MyPetrolPump’, a first-of-its-kind initiative in India which will save you a drive and a long wait at the petrol pump, as MyPetrolPump visits your home and refuels your car.

Customers can place orders online or via phone and very soon an app. Once the customer places an order, an Isuzu D-Max V-Cross with a fuel tank will drive up to your home and refuel your vehicle.

According to Founder Ashish Gupta, the brand is not just about convenience but also about being environment friendly.

One need not waste fuel just for a trip to the petrol station. This will be a great benefit to people living in rural areas and the service could also help beat traffic, believes Gupta.

MyPetrolPump aims to cater to organizations with a huge fleet of vehicles such as schools and transport companies. Gupta in an interview with a newspaper reveals that it makes no sense for an entire fleet to drive down to a petrol pump, when one vehicle can refuel the entire fleet.

Currently, MyPetrolPump only delivers diesel and plans to start petrol delivery shortly. The delivery charges seem reasonable with Rs 100 for fuel up to 100 litres. If it is over 100 litres, Rs 1 will be charged over the fuel price. The minimum order value is 20 litres.

As of now the company which has an investment of 65 lacs has delivered 5000 litres of diesel.

Gupta further points out that many a time, fuel is wasted due to poor handling especially in apartments where generators need to be used. The security guard is not equipped in handling fuel and most goes waste. Poor storage conditions leads to leaking, evaporation and is a risk. This is another area where the company plans to tap, he says and adds that there are plans to tie up with an auto insurance company.

Speaking on safety, MyPetrolPump meets with all statutory safety requirements and as it transports and stores diesel that is less than 2500 litres, one does not need a license for it, adds Gupta.

The company which is operating on pilot basis has made the service available in select locations in Bengaluru, such as HSR Layout, Koramangla, Bellandur, BTM and Bomanahalli and nearby areas. After the initial consumer feedback and analysis the company plans to expand.

I am sure this will be a service many customers will like.

Internet and access to speedier communications have boosted many start-ups in thinking out-of-the-box and offering great products and services - right at the customer's home.

But I sincerely hope that the service providing fuel is not compromised on safety.

A small accident and the damage will be catastrophic.

Hope too the vehicles will not be driven by under-30s drivers whose vehicles have a tendency to go out of control.

Imagine the horror if a petrol-laden vehicle goes out of control!

Hope the Government does not allow the service to take off unless the service meets some stringest safety conditions.
