Udupi: Hit-and-run - Injured lie helpless on road for an hour, one dies

Udupi, Jun 23: In a hit-and-run accident, a man lost his life after after an unidentified vehicle rammed into his scooter on Mabukala bridge near Sastan in the taluk at around 9.30 pm on Thursday June 22.

The deceased has been identified as Hasanaz (30) from Uchchila in the district. He was moving towards the town from the direction of Kundapur when the accident happened.

In this accident, pillion rider, Tahir, suffered grievous injuries. He stands admitted into a private hospital at Brahmavar.

Both, it is learnt, had taken part in a programme at Kundapur before undertaking their return journey to Uchchila. The killer vehicle, which remains unidentified so far, sped away after the accident. The locals informed the police about the accident.

It is said that no one came to the rescue of the duo, although both were lying in a pool of blood for about an hour. Thereafter, someone who saw them, called the police over phone. Brahmavar police arrived on the spot and took injured Tahir to a private hospital at Brahmavar. Brahmavar police have registered a case and undertaken investigation. They are now trying to establish the identity of the vehicle which was involved with this hit-and-run case.

    Well said bro. Human life is not precious now a days in india. Murder, rape is not considered anymore crime in india. But thinkimg about cow in dream also a massive crime and to be hanged till death .

    Very sad to know that no one came to rescue. Shame on DK people. How come kept watching someone dying?? Sounds so merciless.
    In Mumbai even if your bikes skids people immediately run after you to lift bike and offering water ( its my own experience)...OUR DK people should learn from this...nevertheless I accept there are some exception cases too.. BT most of the cases don’t know why people become unkind to help.
