Mangaluru: 12 cattle rescued from farm before taken to slaughterhouse

Mangaluru, Jun 22: Konaje police rescued 12 cattle from a farm at Montepadavu before they could be taken to a slaughterhouse on Thursday, June 22.

Police went to a farm at Montepadavu after they received information from a Hindu organization that some cows are being collected there to be taken to a slaughterhouse. 3 calves and 9 cows were found at the farm and the police rescued
them.

No one was found at the farm as the police believe that the culprits could have run away after seeing them.

The cattle were sent to a Goshala in Pajir.

Police are investigating the case.

    Those who crave for support by running illegal slaughter houses should reallize that taking care of cows is the duty of owners and not of those who steal and sell.If the cow does not belongs to you ,why should bother about it's adoption.Leave the cow alone and keep quite.

    If this continues like this then the export price will go down because of Less Demand and More to Supply. Government may loose some profit from their Beef Export Business in long term. It may Bring down our GDP too for the fiscal year.

    I would not believe that any owner makes his herd to starve like this and there is no derth for fodder at our place. Whereas, those who steal will not take care of the herd as their only purpose is to slaughter. I never mean to hurt anyone but watching these animals starve is very sadening part.

    Very very heart rending scene to watch these cattle, totally starved with the skeleton hanging. Merciless Kasai. I doubt whether these cows are subject to medical test to determine fit for human consumption. Our government need to find out a way to solve such ongoing menace.

    yes, first thing is, all the illegal slaughterhouse should be closed.
    people in this district have been eating beef for years and theres been no issues.
    problem is, when they start stealing cattle.It snot about religions, but robbing a farmer.
    As the majority of people rearing cows are hindus, when they protest the theft, it is branded as a communal thing. Unfortunately, majority of cattle thieves caught are muslims. Then it turns into a communal thing.
    if the police do they job as they are supposed to do, the problem gets nipped at the bud.
