He has mastery over different types of Yoga and capacity to assimilate in the participants through his lucid teaching style, the importance of practicing Yoga. Yoga got the recognition due for it decades back because of Sanjeevanna's efforts in the town, who worked hard to spread knowledge and awareness about Yoga at a time when people did not know anything about it. Yoga is getting attention and media publicity only now.

Thanks to Backache

Thanks to chronic backache from which he suffered a lot during 1982, Sanjeevanna, who tried various methods of medicines and found no cure for his problem, finally attended a 29-day treatment session at Sri Dharmasthala Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital and found to his surprise a lasting remedy which had healed his nagging backache. He then realized that remedies for bodily ailments can be found thorough Yoga practice. He thereafter inspired people suffering from such problems to seek recourse to Yoga. For some, he himself taught Yogasanas.

Yogabandhu Established

Sanjeevanna has attained expertise in naturopathy and Yoga, acupressure, Reiki, homeopathy and magnet treatment methods. He established Yogabandhu (R) Brahmavar in 1992 and dedicated himself to public service by beginning a campaign to provide Yoga training to people. He conducted classes for men and women separately every Sunday from 1992 to June 2014 at Brahmavar. From 1998 onward, he has been conducting free Yoga classes in Bal Bhavan here regularly. Commencing June 2003, he has been conducting Satsang sessions at Bal Bhavan here every Sunday. He successfully conducted 21 days Yoga training and health information camps on the first and second World Yoga Day and earned appreciation of the people. He does not expect anything in return, and has been involved with public service. He is always peaceful and person with a balanced mind. He has special interest in meditation. People approaching him with any problem are sure to get some consoling advice from him. He believes that the Lord created him to serve the people.

Yoga and Transformation

"It is possible to transform the mind through Yoga practice. Yoga can achieve unity of mankind. Yoga brings changes in one's speech, movement, and behaviour. If one wants transformation for the better, Yoga is the answer," says Sanjevanna. He has never taught Yoga for money, and there were cases in which he visited houses of people who were in need of it or were interested in it. He also has imparted Yoga education in several schools. He has realized that it is very easy to create an interest in Yoga among school children. He feels that all the methods of treatment fade in front of Yoga, which is a natural activity that creates an aura around a person. "When sages were meditating in the woods in the past, no animals attacked them because of the protective aura created around them because of their Yoga practices," he explains.

Sanjeevanna had bagged district level Rajyotsava award in 2016 in recognition of his achievement in this sector. Various organizations and institutions have honoured him for his services. Sanjeevanna stands apart among a crowd of people who pay their attention to Yoga only on International Yoga Day because of his unrelenting effort to impart Yoga knowledge and create a society that is healthy. On the occasion of World Yoga Day, he has been organizing 21 days Yoga training and health information camps every year at Parijatha Hotel here.

M Sanjeevanna was born at Havanje, Udupi district, on June 1, 1963. He had his primary education at Bellampalli and high school education through Sharada high school, Cherkady. He attended college at Manipal. During this period, he passed Hindi Praveen examination. Later, he got training in medical records at KMC Manipal. After serving KMC Manipal for two years from 1982, he joined Adarsh Hospital here on April 1, 1984, as medical records expert and manager.

Yoga is just half the effort to keep one healthy. Unless combined with muscle building and cardiac excercise it is just a stretching and plain breathing excercise. Without toned muscles, deep breathing and certain strain on bones one cannot be healthy.
