To ensure error-free results, CBSE to hold board exams a month early from 2018

New Delhi, Jun 21 (Agencies): With Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) taking major steps in the re-evaluation process of class 12 board exams, the board has announced that it will conduct class 10 and class 12 board examination one month early from next year onwards.

This means, CBSE will conduct the board examination in February instead of March.

As reported by TOI, the board has taken this step to advance the cycle of exams and related activities from 2018-19 as a part of reforms focused on "error-free evaluation."

Also, CBSE has said that the whole process of board examination will conclude in given time period i.e. 45 days.

Generally, the board starts both class 10 and class 12 examinations in the first week of March and conclude in April mid.

While speaking about this decision, CBSE Chairman R K Chaturvedi while speaking to TOI said that this would also advance the date of declaration of results, which generally come around the third or fourth week of May.

"The exam inactions should start around February 15 and we are also planning to complete them within a month." Otherwise it has been a neck-and-neck affair," said the chairperson to TOI.

"By April, vacations begin and the experienced teachers are not available. Therefore, advancing evaluation to mid-March will ensure we have the best teachers checking the answer scripts. Otherwise, in April during vacations, schools offer us only temporary, ad-hoc and newly-appointed teachers for the evaluation exercise as experienced teachers don't oblige," said Chaturvedi.

Amid complaints by students of evaluation faults in their class 12, the CBSE on Tuesday set up two committees to study the loopholes in the evaluation procedure.

"The board has taken a prompt decision to set up two committees comprising senior officers to look into the problems related to the evaluation processes being followed," a senior CBSE official said in recent PTI report.

There should be a rule for evaluation that the Teacher must be of certain years of experienced in that particular subject. Tjis sounds really stupid.
