Bengaluru cops who allowed ambulance ahead of President's convoy commended

Bengaluru, Jun 20: Bengaluru traffic cops who allowed an ambulance to move ahead of President Pranab Mukherjee's convoy have been appreciated for their quick thinking.

Ulsoor traffic police station sub-inspector M L Nijalingappa and traffic constable Vishwanath Rao were deployed at Trinity Circle on June 17 to facilitate convoy movement of the President, who was in Bengaluru to inaugurate the underground section of Namma Metro - Green Line.

However, when the convoy was around 150 metres away from the circle, Nijalingappa spotted an ambulance from Hosmat hospital proceeding to a private hospital near HAL.

Nijalingappa immediately passed on a message to senior officials and allowed the ambulance to pass without disturbing the convoy which followed shortly.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Praveen Sood has commended the action. The Commissioner told the media that the cops are given instructions that emergency services should be given priority over VVIPs. However, it needs presence of mind to act during situations. Both the cops were rewarded by the Commissioner on Sunday.

While Nijalingappa is elated that they managed to allow the ambulance and convoy to pass without any hassle, Vishwanath Rao adds that both the vehicles were equally important to them.

“One had the Country’s first citizen and another patient that needed to reach hospital in time and hence we took a swift decision,” says Rao.

If this act was performed in DK a Local MLA would have attacked the Cop for stopping Him. Hope all of You remember the incident at Nanthoor Junction. Local MLA abused a Traffic Police Mr. Yashwanth for stopping Him to let the Ambulance pass. Almost Internationally a Law that says"Emergency Vehicles have Right of Way". But our MLA s are not at all smart to understand the Law, they only know how to act with Corruption.

My big salute to SI Nijalinappa for his quick message passed on to senior officers to allow the ambulance carrying a needy patient to pass ahead of the convoy carrying the President Pranab Mukherjee. Kudos to the Bengaluru cops who were also a part of it.

Second such kind act in Bengaluru in recent days, the first being stopping CM’s convoy for an ambulance. The Bengaluru Police have set an example which I wish be emulated in rest of the country.

President is from Congress so no action against the police officer., but if the President from BJP/RSS gang then they don't care about ambulance with a human in it. They will allow if the COW is in it.

Great work by cops. Appreciate the presence of mind and quick action. Most of our politicians are arrogant and don't come out of VVIP culture. Ambulance and essential services should be top priority. Hope our politicians whether congress or bjp learn from this incident. Hats off to the cops. They truly deserve applause and recognition.

Good job by police personal. But this trend may misused by terrorist having ambulance with of deadly explosives may crash on convoy. Now a days every gully will have several so called hospitals with ambulances services having out source facility for mutual benefit . Most of the cases ambulances are not having life saving emergency, worried about their business and creating public nu-sense. Police personals please have a check over this and impose heavy penalty for misusing the facility.
