Although local police and taluk magistrate rushed to the spot and tried to find the missing girls, they did not taste success initially. The body of Geeta was found at around 6.30 pm, which was sent to the district government hospital for postmortem.

Balappa and his family were living in a land located in the outskirts of the village. The children went to the school located in the village by walk by crossing a stream that came their way. They stood on the banks of the stream and loudly called out for their parents. But the parents did not hear their calls, and the children were eager to go home. They reached the edge of the stream, when the edge was washed away after large quantum of water rushed through the stream all of a sudden, the villagers stated.

Although the district administration continued with efforts to trace Aishwarya, no trace of her was found till 9 pm.
