Mangaluru: Senior retired meteorologist G Srinivasan passes away

Mangaluru, Jun 20: Senior retired meteorologist, G Srinivasan (78), resident of Bejai-Kapikad near here, passed away at his residence on Monday morning, June 19, following a brief period of serious ailment.

G Srinivasan is survived by his wife Rukmini, two sons, daughters-in-law and three grand children.

His older son S Nandagopal, was formerly a correspondent of Times of India in Mangaluru and Bengaluru. He currently runs the Centre for Integrated Learning, a city-based NGO. His younger son Karthikeyan is an entrepreneur based in Hubli. 

G Srinivasan served in different capacities in the Indian Meteorological Department for three decades all over the country including Lakshadweep and Kolkata.

A dedicated rotarian, G Srinivasan had been active in socio-cultural and religious circles in the city for more than five decades. He was also a talented theatre artist and was instrumental in establishing Kannada Kala Kendra in Mumbai and Bengaluru back in the 60s.
