Bengaluru: BJP welcomes govt move to fix rates in pvt hospitals

Bengaluru, Jun 17 (DHNS): Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar on Friday welcomed the state government’s move to fix rates for different types of treatments and bed charges in private hospitals and nursing homes.

The Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2017 tabled in the Assembly provides for imposing a penalty up to Rs 5 lakh and imprisonment up to three years if hospitals collect more charges than that fixed by the state government.

“There are certain provisions in the bill which could have been avoided. I will raise them when the bill comes up for discussion in the Assembly. But it is essential that there should be some control over private hospitals,” the former chief minister said.

It's a good start. I have seen some Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing Homes charge sky rocketing fees. Further, the Doctors are only worried that their pockets don't become sick & care a damn for the Patients. I took my Brother to a specialist in Mangalore & shocked to see about a dozen cubicles in his Clinic. Patients occupy these Cubicles & he goes Clock wise & in a mere 15 to 20 Minutes diagnoses the Patients. My Brother was never healed. Just imagine the Greed & Lust for Money this Doctor has. He is rude and maintains a worthless Profile.
Secondly, the Government should fix the Tariffs for Hotels. Hotels are very expensive in Karnataka. Amma Canteens are a are a Model Eateries. "Appa Siddaramaiah" when will your "Appa Canteens" will appear in Karnataka"
