Karkala, Jun 15: A man who had gone into the forest region to cut down a tree was shot at and killed by two men who had gone there to hunt. This tragic incident happened in Kadthala - Kaljeddu reserve forest area at around 11.30 pm on Wednesday June 14.
Ravi from Kaljeddu was in the forest area to cut down a tree when he was shot. Two persons, identified as Sundar Naik and Jeetu, had visited this forest region at that time for hunting.
Ravi, who, in the dark, thoguht that the two persons approaching the forest were forest guards, tried to flee. Sensing his movements, Sundar Naik and Jeethu fired at him from their double barrel licensed gun, thinking him to be some animal.
Ravi died on the spot and his body was shifted to Manipal hospital.
The accused have been taken into custody by the police for questioning.
Case is yet to be registered.
