Mangaluru: Kambala bill approved by law ministry, headed for Presidential assent

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 15: The hurdles which were blocking passage of Kambala bill meant to circumvent legal bottlenecks that had been created on its path, have been cleared and the law ministry has approved the bill. The file is now with union home ministry and it is expected to get President's nod within a few days.

It has transpired that although union minister for law, PP Choudhary, had told the media persons here on June 7 that the bill had been sent to the President three days before that for his approval, it had come to light later that the information was not correct. The bill has gone to the home ministry on Wednesday June 14, the final destination before it is placed for President's signature, it is gathered.

Kambala Academy convener, K Gunapal Kadamba, as well as Seetharam Shetty and Ashok Kumar Rai representing the district Kambala Samiti had put in herculean efforts under the leadership of minister for statistics, D V Sadananda Gowda, in the capital city on Wednesday towards faster movement of the bill. As it has already got necessary approvals of other ministries, the bill, which had been referred to the centre by the Governor as it was an ammendment bill proposed for the central law, will become law once the President approves it.

It is learnt that the above leaders, who have been actively following up the passage of Kambala bill since long, had personally visited New Delhi by spending their own money to rush through the process, as they were apprehensive that if the bill might get stuck, and there might be further delay because of upcoming Presidential election.

The bill now needs to be followed up by people's representatives from the state in general and coastal Karnataka in particular to see that the ministry acts on it swiftly and moves it for getting President's signature without further delay.

    Jossey, I understood your comments!
They love animals and hate humans. Toruture, burning alive, ransack, attack all because of love for animals. Now even the Centre is rolling crocodile tears on the pretext of animal torture (cattle). Mutoon, chick no problem at all. I hope they will not inclue Fish and chicken in the new list of toruture!

Seriously?? @Jossey? Do not hurt animals? Do you have to comment on every article? Is it OK for you to eat pork and chicken? Aren't these animals hurt before they are slaughtered? What about horse racing, the sport of the rich!!! Shouldn't we ban that as well? People riding horses! So much stress for the horse. People ploughing fields with their oxen in the summer heat!!! Aren't those animals beaten with a whip to plough faster? Will you stop eating rice to save the animals? GROW UP!!!!

I don't think you need my real name. What you are after is my religion. And I am an RC. So that answers your point. I have been reading your vile comments for the last 1 year and couldn't take it any longer, so my apologies. But I am not going to take back my comments. If you meant it as a sarcasm, then I am take it back, but if you meant it genuinely, then my above comment still holds. YOU DON'T HAVE TO EXPRESS YOUR OPINION ON EVERY MATTER. You HAVE the right to remain silent, what you lack is the capacity.
