Abu Dhabi, Jun 15: In yet another gesture that proves why the UAE is a symbol of peace and tolerance, the ruler of Abu Dhabi has decided to change the name of a mosque to that denoting Mary and Jesus.

According to a report by Gulf News, on World Humanitarian Day Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has ordered to change the name of Mohammad Bin Zayed mosque in al-Mushrif area area to 'Mary, Jesus' Mother', or in Arabic, 'Mariam, Umm Eisa' mosque.

The name has been changed to "affirm the humanitarian values in religion, tolerance and co-existence of civilisations and common denominations between religions".

Emirates news agency WAM reported that the name has been changed to "promote the social connections between the followers of different religions and strengthen the common characteristics between the divine religions".

Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, minister of state for tolerance, expressed her appreciation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed's his wise directions to implement this initiative, which she said reflects his pure humanity and portrays a bright image of the real tolerance and coexistence in the UAE.

She also noted that the mosque is located in a place that reflects the values of tolerance, brotherhood and co-existence, as this location includes many civilised places of worship, reflecting the mission of tolerance of the UAE’s leadership, government and people, WAM reported.

I 100% agree with you. An overwhelming majority of Muslims, Christians & Hindus have not even touched any of the books of Islam, they have not even read a single line but yet they are commenting as if they are scholars. Hence, people like now absconding televangelist Zakir Naik who have constantly distorted facts, and have hid the real truth from people are being quoted as if it the gospel truth.

I consider myself a student of Islam though I have spent several decades studying Islam. When I used to quote from the English translation, I was told that to get the right meaning I should have read from the Arabic, but as I did not know Arabic at that time I went to Madrassa Salahaddin in the ME and at that time Shaikh Yousef Al Qaradawi was the principal of that school. Hence, after reading and writing Arabic and I then began my studies of the Qur'ar and all the Books that make up Islam for the past 30 years.

I have read the Qur'an several times from cover to cover, I have also read all the Hadiths/Sunna, the Sira of the Prophet and the classic Manuals of Islamic Law (Fiqh). I have just purchased the 1400 page revised edition of Umdat Al-Salik (Reliance of the Traveller) in both English & Arabic for IRs. 5,000.00 and for the next few months I will going through this in detail.

So my humble advise to all is if you are not familiar on a subject matter, please refrain from commenting.

Whole world is accepted Muslim from war zone nations and given them shelter food free education and money to live peacefully in western nations. Just naming the mosque is not a big thin one has done. Do what God has said cloth the naked and shelter the home and feed the hungry. That is what is required.UAE Christian church es are opened for Muslims to pray. Why can't all these wealthy ARAB can do such things. Why only these things are left for Christians. Just naming the mosque is not enough but rather help those in need . Open ur door with democracy and secularism rather still labeled as islamic republic

Christians often mistake ‘Isa’ as an Arabic/Islamic equivalent to Jesus of the Bible. But this is deceptive, for when a Muslim says that Isa is the same as Jesus of the Bible, they lie. And when a Christian says Jesus is the same as Isa of the Koran, they lie too. Let me explain:

Isa of the Koran is the greatest prophet according to Islam. However, this Isa is not the Son of God, nor did he preach the Kingdom of God, neither was he crucified but instead taken up into heaven before the crucifixion. Even Messianic Arabs don’t believe Isa to be the same as Jesus/Yeshua.

So when a Christian shares the Gospel to a Muslim using ‘Isa’ instead of ‘Jesus’ or ‘Yeshua’ to talk about Jesus Christ, to a Muslim it will make no sense because to him Isa is the greatest prophet and not the Son of God who came to reconcile man to God and to save sinners from the lake of fire. When Obama was inaugurated president, Rick Warren concluded his prayer in the name of “Jesus, Isa..”. This was to mainly please the Muslim population of the US (since he’s so bent on unifying Christians and Muslims, all for the sake of peace and the NWO). If Jesus and Isa were the same person he did not need to pop Isa’s name in his prayer, but he does in order to please the Islamists (plus he knows Jesus and Isa are different).

So when you encounter a Muslim and happen to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, do not fall into their lies when they say ‘Isa’ is the Arabic of ‘Jesus’. Preach the Gospel by speaking the name of Jesus Christ or Yeshua as these 2 names refer to the same person because both refer to the Son of God who proclaimed God’s kingdom, who came to seek and save the lost, who was crucified and raised from the dead defeating the devil and death, and who alone is the LORD (and not a prophet)!

Most Catholics are simply fall trap after seeing a chapter of Mary in the Quran and the Muslims explain to christian girls see in the Quran Mary was specied as a most chaste women.

Mary is the most chaste women was specified in the Holy Bible that is the reason she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus and it is not imperative to go back to see what is the in the Quran.

The core subject of the Christian faith was deleted from the Quran so as to show the other faith followers that the Bible is fabricated. In reality III Caliph Uthuman Fabricated the Quran by destroying all the originals available in papyrus or inscribed in the walls or in the stones and Prepared a new Quran.

In the final revelation only 27 prophets are mentioned. Why your Allah deleted one lakh prophets and why not one lakh prophets name is not specified in the Quran. If not specified one lakh prophets in the quran how then it is a final revelation.

Secondly, did Allah spoke directly from heaven or from earth with Muhammad in the Quran. No you have to go back to Muhammad's sunnah the Hadiths.

This is nothing to surprised here because.....There is a Chapter in Quran "Surat Mariyam (Mary). Which explains that This women is the greatest and few other women... and paradise was guaranteed by Allah. She is the True example of Women.

And About jesus.(EISA):

Quran 33:7-And remember We took from the prophets their covenant: As (We did) from thee: from
Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary: We took from them a solemn
covenant.

Quran 3:49 -And (appoint him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message): “I have

And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah(God) (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah)." Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those who denied (the truth).

My respect for Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has increased 10 folds! Long may he reign! There is more tolerance in UAE/ AUH than in India, where they don't discriminate people on their food habits or the religion they follow, as long as they play their part for the development of the Country. True, Dubai is trading hub and known for tourism.

But the mosque is in Abu Dhabi and name given by Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi which is oil rich emirate(state) and which is less focused on trade or tourism.

I was one of the fortunate to live with my family, in Abu Dhabi for 30 years. This is one of the most safest place in the world to live in.

The leaders of UAE, not only talk about peace and love, they practice as well. There is so much of love among people of other nationalities, the credit goes to them. I have been living in Dubai and I have witnessed the support they give to us. Every Sunday Masses, there is also one more intention added in the Prayers of the faithful for these leaders. Thank you Bishop Paul Hinder for this and also for always spreading love, peace and help among the people. May God bless the leaders of UAE, with love, peace and wisdom to carry out their work pleasing to God, them and us.

A billion of Dollars have been remitted to India every year, Indians Living there, which enables our Government to increase foreign exchange reserve & thus to offset the balance of Payments. Getting Citizenship is secondary.

Every Country has it own rules. It enabled many of the Indians including my sons, living in the Gulf Countries helped to settled down in US, Canada, Australia etc. Most important thing is that U.A.E. is a most tolerant & a very safe place to live in. Being a Muslim country, one can eat Beef, Pork, buy alcohol with permit.

Very Good Gesture.. Really appreciable.. But no need to compare with India... India is accommodating more than 3 lakh mosques, More than lakhs of Charches and Laks of other faith praying Centers. Which is very good proportion of Hindu Temples. At presnt Scenario India is the one of the best safest place to live for any faith... Be proud of India.. Jai Bharat

Stevan, the fact is how much ever you do boot licking of UAE they will never grant you citizenship, you will have to return to your motherland India after you become useless for UAE, Even if a war breaks out today in UAE, then you will need the intolerant country India and the intolerant Indian government to come to your rescue, you can carry on spewing venom at India now

Steven, I do not have any such experience because I only stand up for my nation India not UAE or US or any other nation, first of all UAE is an Islamic republic and they do not accept outsiders like you as their citizens. Only thing they need from you is your service after that you will anyway be asked to pack up

This is a most impressive as well as historic gesture on the part of Abu Dhabi to re-name the Mosque in the name of Mary, Mother of Jesus. "Mariam" is a precious name in Quran, and so also names such as Ebrahim, Yacoub, Ishmael and Issa.

The Sheikhdom of Abu Dhabi has always risen to the occasion of creating some of the most notable headlines in the global events. For instance, we have known that late Sheikh Shuqbooth had donated a free land to Bishop Magliacani almost 50 years ago to build the church, Sheikh Shuqbooth was personally present for the inaugural ceremony. Abu Dhabi has donated one of the largest gift for the M. D. Anderson Cancer Research Center in Houston, Texas. The Sheikh of Abu Dhabi was also the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi during January of 2017. Abu Dhabi has also consented to utilize the storage space for reservoir of Abu Dhabi Oil in India.

The news of re-naming a Mosque in the name of Mariam, the Mother of Jesus is an event that needs all the admiration and gratitude. We shall be visiting Abu Dhabi in the not too distant future just to visit this Holy Mosque and spend some quality time in praying for World Peace and Harmony thru the noble gestures such as this that the noble Ruling family have decided in favor of encouraging the spirit of secularism.

Why do you need pictures here? The practice of displaying pictures, paintings, statues, etc. was inherited from pagan religions of the ancient Roman Empire. The apostles and early century Christians never worshiped in front of pictures or statues.
