Bengaluru, Jun 11: Gearing up for facing next year’s assembly poll battle in Karnataka, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will address a general body meeting of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee at Jnana Jyothi auditorium in the City on June 12, Monday at 3 pm.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara, AICC General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka K V Venugopal and over 1500 members of the general body of the KPCC would participate in the meeting.

Gandhi is visiting the State after granting an extension to Dr Parameshwara as the KPCC president and appointment of K C Venugopal as general secretary in charge of the state.

Briefing reporters on Gandhi’s visit to the City, Dr Parameshwara said the AICC vice-president would speak on the challenges before the Congress party both at the national as well as the state-level.

The Congress Vice President is also likely to spell out the party’s method of campaign to take on the Modi government’s anti-people policies, the KPCC chief said.

Rahul Gandhi would also focus on the need of strengthening the party organisation in the State since it would go to polls March-April next year.

Apart from KPCC office-bearers, MPs, Ministers, legislators, former legislators, zilla panchayat chiefs, block, taluk and district and state level KPCC office-bearers would attend the meeting.

Gandhi would also attend a function organised for the release of National Herald’s commemorative publication “India at a Crossroads: 70 years of Independence” on Monday morning in Bengaluru.
