Bengaluru: Four Centres of Excellence to be set up in the State

Bengaluru, Jun 10: As many as four centres of excellence have been planned to set up at the sub-centres of the Government Tool Room and Training entre Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Dandeli and Mysuru in association with Siemens Industry Software, India.

The decision to set up the four centres of excellence is part of the agreement signed by the State Government with Siemens Industry Software, India.

The total cost of the project is Rs 2031.80 crore.

Siemens Industry Software, India will be contributing Rs 1822.48 crore and the State Government’s share is Rs 219.32 crore.

Advanced training will be imparted four domains – Automotive, Aerospace and Defence, Industrial Machinery and Renewable Energy.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said manufacturing industries were facing acute shortage of skilled manpower and most of the technicians, diploma holders, graduates engineers, who pass out from various institutions need technical training before they join the industry.

The Karnataka State Skill Policy envisaged to design and implement skill development entrepreneurship and livelihood activities on a mission mode converging all the schemes and programmes concerned under the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, he said.

In this direction, “Chief Minister’s Koushalya Karnataka Scheme” was being implemented and programmes have been planned to provide skill training to five Lakh youth during 2017-18.

In the first two years, Siemens Industry Software, India will run the centres.

After the first two years, the firm will assist Government Tool Room and Training Centre to run the courses and will hand over the Sub-Centres to Government Tool Room and Training Centre.

About 25,000 to 30,000 youth would be trained in the State annually.
