Shivamogga: Incident of woman dragging ill husband for scanning gets interesting twist

Daijiworld Media Network - Shivamogga (SP)

Shivamogga, Jun 10: The incident which reportedly happened at the district McGann Hospital here sometime back relating to which a video had gone viral, has got an interesting twist now.

In the video , taken by using a mobile phone, which had spread like wildfire through social media sites, an old man was seen being dragged on the floor by his wife. It was claimed that the woman was forced to drag her sick husband all along the floor as he could not walk, the hospital did not provide stretcher, and the doctor insisted on taking of the man's X-ray without delay.

It has now been revealed that the woman in question, Fameeda, was dragging her husband all along the floor not to the X-ray room but to the toilet. This revised information was provided by advocate, Savita Pattanashetti, who has been appointed by the women and child development department to the paediatric treatment unit of McGann Hospital.

Pattanashetti visited the said hospital along with member secretary of the district legal services authority, Somashekhar C Badami, on Friday June 9. After verifying reports and facts, she told the media that when Fameeda was leading her husband to toilet in this fashion, some nurses had approached and questioned her, but she had failed to provide proper response. This was revealed during verification here, and on the face of it, it looks like a scene created by vested interests aimed at tarnishing the image of the hospital, she added.

    Pattanchetty,

Did you question the nurses as to why they didn't provide wheel chair to patient to go to toilet, instead of questioning Fameeda??

Is the patient not entitled for a wheel chair in every hospital?

So what? What's difference does it make? The moment a patient arrives at the entrance of the hospital who can't walk has to be compulsorily provided with a stretcher or a wheelchair, it's not courtesy it's a primary requirement. Stop bloody covering up this incident and focus on such incidents not repeating. Train the govt doctors and staff to be more courteous and serve the poo better. Whereve she was dragging him it was your responsibility to make sure he gets a chair and he has less trouble and pain. I won't be surprised if these bloody govt authorities slap a case on the poor couple and "drag" them to some court..!!

Shetty, according to you and blind bhakts, if the patient is dragged to toilet is ok ? According to me, once the patient is in the hospital, it is the duty and responsibility of hospital to ensure wheel chair is provided whether to go to toilet or for scanning.

What difference does it make... whether she was dragging him to the toilet or to the x-ray - it is happening in a hospital... There should be better alternatives for the action...
