Mangaluru: Youngsters display culinary skills at 'Junior Chef Champ'; Taniha, Afna win title

Mangaluru, Jun 6: Several children showcased their culinary talents at 'Junior Chef Champ 2017' organised by Glitz Entertainment in association with TATA Stryder, Jyothi cycle and The Last Stop at Forum Fiza Mall on Sunday, June 4.

Taniha bagged the first place in the junior category, while Saneeha claimed the second spot. Afna and Sanskrithi bagged the first and second places in the senior category. The winners were awarded bicyles from Jyothi Cycles, trophies and certificates.

The competition witnessed an excellent response as children thronged the mall to exhibit their cooking skills. As many as 95 children took part in the preliminary round. They were divided into two groups, junior category (8-11 years) and senior category (12-15 years).

Ten semi finalists each from the two categories had to cook noodles and pasta using different recipes.

Five participants each were selected for the finals from both the categories. The finalists from the junior category were asked to prepare carrot halwa, while the seniors were given the task of preparing kheer. The finalists had to cook according to recipe recited orally by the organisers.

Vignesh from Taj Gateway, food court manager Gopinath and senior executive Lijo Varghese judged the competition.


Make Iftar extra special

With the month of Ramadan on, Forum Fiza mall has set up Forum Food Street to make Iftar more special. With various delicacies from lip-smacking biryani and kebabs to scrumptious Iftar sweets, there is everything for everyone.

The event is being organised since three years for every Ramzan where large number of people get to taste varieties of delicacies. The event which began on May 26 will go on till the end of the holy month. The counters will be kept open from 5 pm to 11 pm. Nearly 17 stalls are set up including counters from Town tables, Sulthans of Spice, Flavours of Arabia and many more. There are special varieties of food stufs such as Fish Samosa, Fish Fingers, Semiya Biryani, Chicken Samosa, Chicken Honey Stick, Cashew Pudding, Dum Biryani Shawarma, Chicken Kandi, Chicken Crispy, Russian Kabab, Kheema Dosa Mutton Seek, Mutton Cream Tikka, Chicken Chandni Kabab, Chicken Italian Roll, Chicken Asarafy and many more.
