Mangaluru: Vikas PU College holds orientation programme for freshers

Mangaluru, Jun 4: Vikas Pre-university College, here was a beehive on Sunday, June 4 as the boarders reported to the college. To break the anxiety with multiple charms, the college conducted an orientation programme for the freshers.

Gulabrao Bhushan Borase, superintendent of police, Dakshina Kannada, who was the chief guest, motivated the students to become responsible citizens acquiring well-groomed social behaviour. He suggested them to engage in sports activities, which in turn would help them learn to face failures. He stated further that curiosity was key to learning.





Asserting that PUC is the launching pad of one’s career, the guest of honour Dr Surendra Kamath, professor and HOD, Orthopaedics’ KMC, Mangaluru offered young students two mantras of success – hard work and focus.

Krishna J Palemar, chairman of the college, who presided over the function, said that the institution was providing a good education with parental care. Adolescents might make various mistakes which affect their life, he said, but in Vikas, students are moulded to take the right path in the life, he continued. He assured the students and parents that a conducive environment, healthy food, and knowledge were guaranteed at Vikas.

Dr Ananth Prabhu, advisor of Vikas PU College motivated the students and explained about various competitive entrance examinations and opportunities and possibilities ahead during the academic course. He stressed that the board examination was the foundation for all other competitive examinations.

Trustees  J Koragappa,  Suraj Kumar Kallya, principal professor T Rajaram Rao were present on the occasion.

Vidya Kamath, administrator (ACA) briefed the students on the rules and regulations of the college. She also introduced the members of the faculty to the newcomers.

Dr Vinaya Poornima, asst Professor of Radiology KMC, Mangaluru, an active member of ‘Art of Living’, enlightened students to develop an optimistic approach to attain success. She encouraged the students to enjoy every moment in the life by being in the present and overcoming  ego. She proposed practicing ‘sudarshan kriya’ to restore life’s natural rhythm of happiness.

The programme was compered by commerce in-charge Aishwarya Rao. T Rajaram Rao, principal of Vikas PU College welcomed the gathering. Programme director Shobha P proposed the vote of thanks.
