Beltangady, Jun 2: A man was brutally hacked to death on the night of Friday June 2 at his residence near Santhekatte here.

Thimmppa Poojary (52), a native of Moodigere residing in a rented house at Santhekatte here, was murdered allegedly by a student identified as Chandrashekar (20).

Thimmappa was a lineman working with BSNL. He is survived by wife Champavati, son Hrishit (12) and daughter Tanvi (9).

The accused, Chandrashekar is a student staying with his mother in a rented house adjacent to Thimmappa's residence. He is pursuing BBM second year at SDM College, Ujire.

On Friday at around 8 pm, Thimmappa was going home after work, when Chandrashekar reportedly waylaid him and a quarrel ensued between them over some issue. Chandrashekar then allegedly wielded a sickle and brutally hacked Thimmappa to death.

Thimmappa and Chandrashekar's residences are located in the same building. It said that the issue of water sharing had become a matter of dispute between them. It is also suspected that there were other reasons that had made Chandrashekar uneasy, and unable to tolerate Thimmappa any longer, he allegedly committed the heinous act.

The Beltangady police have arrested Chandrashekar. The exact motive behind the crime would become clearer after investigation, said the police.

SP Bhushan Gulabrao Borase and other police officials visited the spot.

Locals said that a little while before the murder took place, Chandrashekar went to a nearby bakery and bought some bread. Saying that his mother was not at home, he stood around waiting, knowing that Thimmappa would be passing by that way.

The student must be punished. But they have to find the reason. The length of sentence will depend on the reason.

Murder become so easy nowadays - no worry. Next day the victim wanders freely in his town. Such liberal is our law and influence of political people. Let the rule KHOON KA BADLA KHOON like Gulf countries - then such cases will be less than 10%. But unfortunately most of the murder cases happens becsuse of our BIG (politicians) people.

A shocking incident. The college student has ruined his young life by killing his neighbor who was married with two young children. Now he will rot in jail for this murder. Whatever may be the reason but killing someone will never solve the problem. May the soul of tTimmappa Poojari rest in peace and sympathies to his wife who has lost her husband and children who will miss their father.

What a terrible act.Killing a person ,making small children to loose their father at a small age.He himself is also at a teenage almost.Instear of finding a reasonable answer to their problem killing him now also wouldnt make the situation easier, instead he has to go to jail and punishment of some years inside.what will be his future ?Has he a answer to his parents?Or children of victims family? He should get life time punishent and realize his act.also pay heavy compansation to the victims family.
