Udupi: Distinguished achievement - Manipal's Ranjan gets 112th rank in UPSC

Udupi, Jun 2: Ranjan Rajgopal Shenoy from Manipal has brought laurels to his parents, school and native place by securing 112th rank at national level in UPSC examination.

Ranjan is the son of Dr Rajgopal Shenoy, associate dean in the department of surgery, KMC, Manipal, and Dr Anita Shenoy, head of the department of anesthesia in the same institution.

Ranjan has appeared for UPSC examinations four times consecutively since 2013. In the 2014 examination, he got 391st rank and got selected to Indian Revenue Services.

 

He is now undergoing probationary training at the National Academy of Central Customs, Excise and Narcotics, Hyderabad. With the improved ranking he has got in the latest examination, he would be able to get entry into Indian Foreign Services. Now he will get training in Civil Service Training Institute, Mussoorie for three months before undergoing specific training for three years through Foreign Service Institute, New Delhi.

Ranjan, who is a past student of IIT Kanpur, had become interested in UPSC examination during his days there. He had served as teacher to educate children from Dharavi slum in Mumbai after his education. He feels that he could achieve this feat because of the enthusiasm and hard work he had put into his ambition thus far.

    Mr. Ranjan Shenoy, It doesn’t matter whether you want to become a teacher, doctor, engineer, and astronaut. What matters is that by passing UPSC examination, you have proved that you have the ability and talent to become anyone you want to be and you made your parents proud. Keep up the good work, Congratulations!!! this is good news for our district and Karnataka state.
