Satheesh Kumar's appointment cancelled, T R Suresh is new police commissioner of Mangaluru

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, May 29: The state government on Monday May 29 cancelled the appointment of IPS officer Satheesh Kumar to the post of police commissioner of Mangaluru city, and appointed IPS officer T R Suresh to the post.

Satheesh Kumar had been appointed as police commssioner of Mangaluru city commissionerate on May 25, in place of Chandra Sekhar who was transferred as IGP of CID and economic offences, Bengaluru.

However, Satheesh Kumar's appointment was opposed by Congress leaders from Mangaluru, led by minister U T Khader, who raised objections with the chief minister stating that Satheesh Kumar was the SP of Dakshina Kannada district during the infamous church attacks in Mangaluru in 2008, when police allegedly carried out atrocities against worshippers.

Following the complaint, the state government had withheld the order, and on Monday, cancelled it altogether.

T R Suresh, who will now be taking over as Mangaluru police commissioner, is an IPS officer of the 2003 batch. He has been serving as deputy inpector general of police (DIG), fire services, in Bengaluru, and has earlier been the DCP of Bengaluru (north division) and SP of Tumakuru. A native of Shivamogga, Suresh holds an MBA.

Good news! Mangalore has shown that there is no second term for tainted hands and atrocities though a person got promoted. Then God father is not there to support him , those supported church attack are not entertained by impartial CM! Big setback for those thriving on troubled waters for gain of power and polarizing certain communities! Truth is most people from all communities of undivided DK disliked attacks on Church, pub and homestay and do not like it happening again!

    Dear Sir,
    Welcome sir.

Just an warning, the operating territory is tough in D.K where the best tuluva people lives.
High polarisation, sectarian division is a decade back introduction to this society.

Few gangs and politicians disguised goons do operate and interfere in social norms.

Community will call for a fair or protection of their rights or try a mental attack on others living behind the 2 centuries than Western task focused policies .

Highly dependant on River Nethravathi for the lifeline n lifestyle.

Hope your stint will be memorable here keeping constitutional values high, not bending to communal politics in this belt.

May God grant you strength and suffice power to tackle the situation daringly like a super Cop!

The dubious and biased role of Satheesh Kumar as SP during the Black Sunday 14th September 2008 is fresh in the minds of Peace loving community of Mangalore. Anti national goons of certain criminal outfits owing allegiance to divisive agenda perpetrated dastardly attacks on places of worship of a community known for peace love and harmony. Such being the situation, the role of the Police force should be above board and they should act without fear or favour. The likes of Satheesh Kumar are a disgrace to the entire police force.
