Doha: M Pallonji beats ACC by five wickets in Qalco cricket tourney

Doha, May 29: M Pallonji defeated Asian Cricket Club (ACC) by five wickets in Qalco Day-Night Cricket Tournament 2017 at MIC Sports Complex on May 25.

The tournament had the top eight teams of Division I competing on a knockout basis and played at Lusail Cricket Complex. Shahid Iqbal Chaudhry, operation director of QALCO was the chief guest for the thrilling finals.

M Pallonji won the toss and elected to field. Asian Cricket Club scored 37 runs in the first 6 overs losing one wicket. Losing wickets at regular intervals, ACC were all out for 78 runs in 12 overs. Bilal and Naveed were the only batsmen who entered double figures contributing 15 and 12 runs respectively. Tissaru took 3 wickets, Firdous and Rajesh two wickets each, Talha, Ayub, Neeraj and Melroy bagged one wicket each for M Pallonji.


    
























































In reply M Pallonji started slowly and confidently. They managed 37 runs for the loss of one wicket in the first 6 overs. M Pallonji chased the target of 79 runs in 12 overs. Neeraj was the star batsman who scored 17 runs with a six and remained unbeaten. Ibrahim with 15 runs and Tissaru with 12 runs were the other contributors for M Pallonji. Sameer took three wickets, Sarfaraz, Feroz and Adnan took a wicket each for ACC.

Man of the Match in the final was Tissaru from for M Pallonji. While, Mazhar Iqbal of CCRC Warriors was declared the best batsman, Faslin of CCRC Warriors was awarded the best bowler. Imran of Hanan XII and Neeraj of M Pallonji were declared the best all-rounder and best wicket-keeper respectively.

Mazhar Iqbal's score of 63 and Faslin's five-wicket haul in CCRC Warriors v Qalco, Nasir and Imran's three-wicket haul in Hanan XII v Alliance and Hanan XII v ACC respectively were regarded as as the extra ordinary performances of the tournament.

More than 150 prizes were given away by Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary in a well attended prize ditrsibution ceremony. The organisers had arranged complimentary refreshments and lucky draw for all spectators.
