Media Release

Mangaluru, May 26: The lucky coupons draw of the Lenten Campaign 2017 and the annual education and housing aid distribution programme of CODP for the year 2017-18 was held on May 25 at CODP Mother Theresa hall.

The programme commenced at 10.30 am in CODP with a prayer led by Asha and the CODP team. Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza and Fr Oswald Monteiro, director of CODP were present on the dais.

The director of CODP, Fr Oswald Monteiro, in his welcome speech said that CODP has always been working for the development of the poor in society. However mere charity does not help development, rather everyone should make use of the available assets in and around them. He then encouraged the participants to avail government facilities and develop themselves and improve their financial status.

The Bishop then distributed education and housing aid to the beneficiaries. "CODP has been helping the needy since the last 43 years. It has also been working for the development of the poor and the needy in society by encouraging them to avail government facilities. Each person should aim to become rich and then in turn should help other needy families in the society. We should not depend on others but try to be independent as early as possible and strive hard for the same. I wish the participants success and motivate them to become self sustainable."

Shanthi D’Souza explained about the various government schemes for the minorities and how to avail them. Santhosh Monteiro compered the programme and Veena D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
