Udupi: Engine gets detached from bogies, railway traffic disrupted for hours

Udupi, May 26: The engine of a goods train got detached from the bogies on the night of Thursday, May 26 at Adamaru near here.

Railways traffic was affected for more than 4 hours because of the incident.

The goods train was moving from Mumbai towards Mangaluru. When it reached Adamaru Crossing Gate, suddenly the engine got detached from the bogies. The railway personnel, who observed this, immediately brought another engine on the track and the detached bogies were pulled from the spot.



It is said that 33 bogies from the 40 bogies train were detached.

During the four hours that took to set right the things, railway traffic was totally affected on the road.

Padubidri police helped the railway personnel in managing the situation.

    It is very essential to have at least dual track on Konkan Rail route to avoid inconvenience to other trains whenever there is an accident on one of the track.

    yes, for that reason only from the last 70 years we have not introduced bullet train.

    Good news is that the engine just got detached from bogies. If the bogies were toppled to the side, it would have been a different story. Luckily, it was not a passenger train.
