Mangaluru: Fishing ban to begin from June 1, to last till July end

Mangaluru, May 24: 61 days of fishing ban will begin from June 1 and will last till July 31, as per the order received from the state government.

The government has issued a strict order banning fishing activities through mechanized fishing vessels during this period. All other traditional boats above 10 horse power capacity with either inboard or outboard engines will also follow the fishing ban during the 61 days ban.

Department of animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries from the central government has imposed ban during the same period resulting in uniform ban for fishing throughout the country.

As per the communication from the state government, those boats and fisherfolk who defy the fishing ban will attract penalty and will not get government subsidy for diesel for a period of one year.

    Whether you impose ban or anything, we dont get good fish throughout the year. Because of pollution our fish community migrated to some other place like Pakistan. We get Bangude, Bhuthai, Madmal, Disco, Baila etc. which we cant consume daily.

    The anjal fry prices increase every June, when fishing ban commences. But all restaurants forget to reduce it after the ban is lifted.
    I think this year one slice fry will reach above 1000 rupees!

    This is Really Greediness Year By Year Ban Period is getting shorter & Shorter. Then Finally these People Will Cry No Fishing No Fishing. Atleast Allow 3 months time for Fish to Breed. If You Guys be patient for 3 months You Guys Will Get Positive Results.
