Bengaluru, May 24: Former IAS officer M N Vijayakumar has alleged that the IAS mafia is behind the death of IAS officer Anurag Tiwari. He has also said Tiwari had unearthed a scam and was to reveal it soon which ultimately took his life.
Anurag Tiwari from Karnataka IAS cadre was found dead recently in Uttar Pradesh.
In a letter sent to the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary on Tuesday, Vijayakumar says that Tiwari had stumbled upon a scam in the food and civil supplies department. The copies of the letter have been marked to the Cabinet Secretary, Karnataka Lokayukta among others.
Vijayakumar revealed these details in a press meet here on Tuesday, May 23. Anurag Tiwari’s engineering classmate Rashmi Mishra and others were present in the press meet.

Vijayakumar has stated in the letter that according to his sources, Tiwari was planning to probe deeper into the scam after returning from his training programme. “Before attending his training programme in Missouri, Tiwari had interacted with a few people with documents about the scam and had said he would come back with more information. Tiwari was unhappy that he was not getting any support from his seniors,” the letter reads in part.
Vijayakumar has not given details about the scam but has told, he is willing to reveal the details only before the investigating agency.
The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday recommended to the Centre that the case be handed over to the CBI.
Vijayakumar has said in the letter that there have been several instances where honest officers have been harassed by seniors for reporting their corrupt activities to various authorities in the government. “I was myself assaulted three times by this IAS mafia. I was miraculously saved in 2002 when I was assaulted very badly. So many officers are suffering in Karnataka because of this mafia,” he charged.
“There is no point in investigating the case locally. Even available evidence will be destroyed in such case,” he opined.
