Mangaluru, May 22: Close on the heels of the alleged assault on a commuter by Sastan toll gate staff, another incident of assault was reported at the toll plaza in Talapady here on late night on Sunday May 21.

Two tollgate staff, identified as Deekshith (28) and Kaushik (21) have been arrested in the incident.

Ansar (28), a resident of Narlapadilu, Talapady, was allegedly assaulted by the two accused.

Ansar and three others were travelling from Mangaluru to Talapady by Zylo car. When they came to the toll plaza, they told the staff that they were locals and as per rules, did not need to pay toll charges.

However, as the Xylo car had Maharashtra registration, the staff asked the car occupants to produce identity card or registration documents of the vehicle. But the car occupants reportedly refused to obey and instead picked up an argument. A fight ensued between them, during which toll booth staff Deekshith allegedly assaulted Ansar. A gold bracelet on his wrist hit Ansar on the head, causing injury, it is said.

Ullal police on receiving information rushed to the spot and arrested the two toll plaza employees.

A case of attempt-to-murder has been registered against the two accused.

Law is for both commuters and toll gate staff as well. None has the right to take law into their own hand for whatsoever reasons may be.
