Mangaluru: Tribute to mothers - Malani's ' Maa- Ye Cinemaa Hai ' released

Mangaluru, May 20: Well known actor, director Sandeep Malani's long-awaited commercial mega Bollywood film 'Maa- Ye Cinemaa Hai' premiered at Don Bosco Hall on Friday, May 19. U T Khader minister for food and civil supply, Richard Castelino senior movie director, Roy Castelino former president of Konkani Sahitya Academy along with Sandeep Malani and cast of the movie lit the ceremonial lamp and released the movie.

'Maa- Ye Cinemaa Hai' deals with the sentiment of a mother. It champions women empowerment while providing wholesome entertainment. The Mangalurean talent includes those from the Tulu, Konkani and Kannada film industry with Meena Malani playing the title role along with Deepali Khambadakone and Vinny Fernandes. Geeta Suvarna, Sarojini Shetty, Saiheel Rai, Nigel Pereira, Denzil Periera, Canyut Fernandes, Mohammad Aashiq acted in this film.

















In his speech, U T Khader said, "I have known Malani for long. He has received a lot of appreciation and awards for several Kannada and Hindi films he directed in the past. I like his simplicity. I like his innovative mindset. In this movie, he has shown love for his mother and the entire congregation of mothers. I think this is a precious gift to all mothers. I wish him all the success for this movie and congratulate the cast and crew."

In his thanksgiving speech, Sandeep Malani said, "The film is a unique one as its been entirely shot on an iPhone camera, the result of which is outstanding. The film has over 100 actors from the film and television industry of Bollywood and South Indian films, besides newcomers, models, dancers, theatre artists and the common folks who are working professionals and housewives, not connected to the entertainment industry. A whole lot of them are from Mangaluru and the rest from Bengaluru, Mumbai and other parts of the country. I thank the actors and the entire crew of the movie. With their support, my dream has come true."

The yesteryears famous Konkani song 'Mog Tuzo Kithlo Ashelom' by Wilfy Rebimbus has been recreated in the film and been sung by Prajoth D'Sa and Aswin D'Costa. Dr Nithin Acharya is one of the composers besides the seven different music composers of the film that has ten songs. The concept, screenplay, production, cinematography and direction is done by Sandeep Malani Talkies.
