Udupi, May 19: The Udyog Mela, a one-day mega job fair, was hosted for the second time after a gap of three months after its first, by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka, on Friday, May 19.

The Mela was inaugurated by district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj, near District Indoor Stadium, Ajjarkad, here.

The fair included a skill training and placement programme which provided the requisite skill set to unskilled job seekers and connected them with potential employers.

Around 1500 graduates enthusiastically took part in the mega job fair.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Pramod said, "India is among the top countries with young population in the world. We should make use of our potential. The youth are very precious. People should treat them as the asset of the country by instilling in them adequate values. Compared to other countries, India has the highest number of youth belonging to the under-35 age bracket. The youth play a crucial role thus, in adding to the productivity and development of the nation. Nearly 85% of the children drop out of school by 10th standard. Only 15% of the youth are graduates."

"We should encourage youth to be self-employed. They have the potential for it. There are many programmes organised by the government of Karnataka but the failure is in implementing them. The central government promised to provide job opportunities for the unemployed, but now they remain silent. India has all the potential to face any kind of challenges. The government always there with the youth in getting jobs in private companies too," he added.

"After eight years, the state government recruited many persons such as lineman, PDO and as surveyors in various departments. It recruited people for 1 lac posts in the last four years," he said.

"There are many self-employment programmes implemented by the government. Mandamus, a private skill training and placement company, which is already established in Bengaluru, will start its first branch in Udupi in three months and will provide training and placement services free of costs, benefitting locals here," said Pramod Madhwaraj.

Mandamus Education Academy was provided an opportunity to be the implementing partner of both the mega job fairs so fars.

    Dear Pramodji.
This is most important. In TOI it is already published in our country more than 60% engineers are jobless. In June-July newly passed engineers are there for the job. Please try for them new jobs as per their faculties.
This is Humble request to provide the proper jobs.
    Thanks
