Koppal, May 19: Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, said that he is aware that the governor has rejected the nomination of C M Lingappa made by him to the legislative council. He said that the government will re-nominate Lingappa and send back the recommendation to the governor with a request to review his earlier decision.

"We had recommended to the governor to approve the nomination of C M Lingappa as member of the legislative council on the basis of contributions made by him to the fields of social reforms and education. The governor had opined that Lingappa does not fall under the category of education and social reforms sectors, in rejecting his nomination. Lingappa happens to be a former MLA who runs several educational institutions. Therefore, we will request the governor to re-examine his decision and approve Lingappa's name," Siddaramaiah stated.

About Jantakal mining case, he said that he has not been playing politics in this issue and that he also has not been trying to settle scores against former chief minister, Kumaraswamy, in this case. "Mining scam did not happen during our government, but when his government was in office. Former Lokayukta, Justice Santosh Hegde, had submitted a detailed report on mining scam. This case is under investigation now, and those found to be guilty will be proceeded against," he clarified.

It is said that former Congress MP and current BJP leader, Tejaswini Gowda, had complained to the governor against accepting Lingappa's nomination to the legislative council and that on the basis of this complaint, Lingappa's nomination was rejected.
