Puttur, May 17: A citizen of the city, complaining that the municipal office here had not provided him proper details as sought by him, poured out his anger at the staff of the office besides shattering the glass pane of the office. This incident happened on Tuesday, May 16  evening, and the person who injured himself got admitted to the government hospital here.

Muhammed Haneef residing at Darbe here had sought details from the city municipal office about the cancellation of door number pertaining to the building owned by him without his assent. The municipality had provided him reply but he was not satisfied by it, it is gathered. On Tuesday, he came to the office and questioned in-charge municipal commissioner, C R Devadiga. Even after the official gave his response, Haneef used angry words at the officials and in a fit of anger, hit the glass of the office. The glass pane got shattered and Haneef suffered serious injuries to his hand.

Haneef then reportedly showed his injured hand to the staff of the office before getting admitted to the government hospital. A lot of blood got splattered around the office floor as a result.

An application to cancel the door number had been filed in 2012, for demolishing a building standing in Haneef's father's name, in order to build a new building there. Thereafter, the land was shared among the legal heirs and brothers of Haneef had also sold a portion of the land. Haneef now came up with a complaint about the cancellation of door number. Although a reply was given, and in spite of the fact that sale of land happens to be a family affair, Haneef came to the office and made a lot of fuss, officials of the city municipality stated.

Haneef says that he has been living in the said building since the last 40 years, and the door number was cancelled without bringing it to his notice. He also accused the concerned of getting the building demolished through a third party. "I now live in a rented house. The council has not given me reply even after four months. When I visited the office to seek details, the in-charge municipal commissioner and other staff used objectionable language against me," he has stated.

The city municipal office has sent a complaint to the town police station against Haneef, accusing him of entering the office, giving rise to the commotion and showing aggressive behaviour against the staff of the office.
