Mangaluru, May 16: Every mother has a special place in the heart of her children. She is always very close and a best friend. She is the only person in the world who never deceives her children. Mother is a great gift from God. No one can take place of a mother. While every day is special with a mother in ones life, Mother's Day is one such day, where children celebrate it gleefully for their mothers.
Moms of Mangalore (MOM), an online social group of close to 25,000 mothers of the region organised 'Vibrant Chevrolet Super Mom 2017' contest at Forum Fiza Mall on May 14. MOM, along with all the well-wishing sponsors, came together to host a colorful evening to commemorate the special person in everyone’s life. A clearly enthusiastic crowd participated in various activities such as nail art, mehendi, make up, professional photo shoot which were all provided free to the mothers to pamper themselves on the very special occasion.
The event also witnessed felicitation of three eminnent mothers from the region who have excelled in the fields of social service, art, sports and education. Shashi Sehtty, Geetha Shetty and Dr Amritha Bhandary were felicitated by the team of Moms of Mangalore.
The contest which started online culminated in the big finale where Dr Shilpa Dheeraj was crowned 'Super Mom 2017' and walked away with fabulous prizes while Shamitha Shetty was crowned first runner-up and Deena Moras emerged as the second runner-up. There was also a special prize for the best dressed mom-child pair which was bagged by Deena Moras.
Corrine Rasquinha, founder of White Doves NGO and Komal Prabhu, chief operating officer at Maharaja restaurant were the judges for the grand finale.
The title sponsor for the event was Vibrant Chevrolet while the co-sponsors were Early Learning Centre, Zeus Fitness Club, Barbeque Nation, The Limelyte, Mangalore Heart and Scan Foundation, Mercy Salon and Spa, and BON Masala and Food Products. Nithesh Kalnad Photography was the photography partner.

While a plethora of like minded people came together, the main stars of the event and the group were the mothers of MOM, whose support and participation defined the success of the event. As MOM intends to get involved into more social responsibilities in the region while supporting each other through various services it renders through its online page, mothers are encouraged to join this group and make use of the opportunities and also make a small effort to make a difference in the lives of other mothers.
