Bhatkal, May 15: Lightning struck on the wee hours of Monday, May 15 to claim the life of a 22-year-old pregnant lady and injure two others at Firdaus Nagar here.
Bibi Sufiya (22) wife of Zakir has been identified as the deceased. Mubarak Khan (19) and Muhammed Kaif (6) suffered injuries. The incident took place when the inmates of the house were reportedly sleeping.
The tragedy left electric meters and switches, and household items damaged.
Zakir had married Sufiya eight months ago and settled in Shikarpur. He had come to Bhatkal with his wife on May 13 and went the next day to Shikarpur all alone.
Bhatkal rural police visited the spot. The body was shifted to Bhatkal government hospital for post mortem.
