Puttur, May 13: A boy from a rural area near Kadaba in the taluk has suddenly become the centre of admiration on account of his stellar achievement in this year's SSLC examination. The boy, Poornananda, who studied in St Joachim's High School at Kadaba in the taluk and scored 100 percent in SSLC examination this year by striking the perfect score of 625 out of possible 625, has emerged as the cynosure of all eyes.

Two others from the state have equalled the feat of Poornananda by getting 100 percent marks this time. Poornananda used to walk over a kilometre to catch a bus to his school which is about four km away from his home. He has been a student of this institution since the first standard. He has been taking part in sports activities and music classes apart from taking active part in talent competitions. He has always been ahead in studies and extra curricular activities, is is gathered.

Poornananda, who has been a Kannada medium student since first standard, has won state-wide recognition on account of his proud achievement. He said he expected to score 620 marks, but was taken aback when someone told him that his name has appeared in the media for having scored 100 percent marks.

Poornananda gives full credit for his success to his parents and teachers. He wants to choose science stream in PU and then take decision about the future course depending on the performance there.

Who said talents only come from cities and towns. They can come from even from remotest places if they are given an opportunity. In these days when Kannada is losing the importance this is a great encouragement. Congratulations to the school managemnt who provided quality education. Let us not undestimate the remote areas by being facinated by urban centres..

One does feel glad that the student has achieved high marks, but the e thanvaluation system is questionable. It is common sense that no one achieves one hundred percent in languages, that too three. Feel sorry for the boy as expectations will be very high wherever he goes and no one will expect him or her to make mistakes.
With the current standards in education I have come across people who have shown excellent report cards at school level but are not able to form a grammatically correct sentence.
Suggest that all papers which have aggregated more than 615 be revalued at a totally different location. The exactness of the marks will be evident.

Tony you have raised a very valid point.Yes even I have come across a lot of students who have scored 90+ in English but still struggle to frame sentences which are grammatically correct. The focus in languages should be on Grammar rather than memorising question and answers
