Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, May 10: In a tragic incident, three persons of a family, including a woman from Moodbidri near here, committed suicide in Bhagamandala in Kodagu district on the night of Tuesday May 10.

The lady ended her life first, after which, her husband and father-in-law also followed suit.

The deceased have been identified as Manjula (28), Pradeep (32) and Gopalaiah (64).

Manjula, daughter of Anni Acharya from Alangar in Moodbidri, married Pradeep from Bhagamandala about eight months ago. But just months after marriage, she was being harassed by her in-laws, Manjula had reportedly told her family.

It is learnt that there used to be frequent quarrels at home. On Tuesday night, she committed suicide by hanging.

Shocked by her sudden death, her husband ended his life, and his father, pained by the son's action, also hanged himself.

Manjula was staying with her husband Pradeep and father-in-law Gopal, while Pradeep's mother and sister stayed in another house, sources said.

Manjula left behind a death note in which she said she herself was responsible for her death. "Forgive me if I have committed any wrong. I am ending my life," her death note further stated.

A case has been registered in Bhagamandala police station.

Simply change the rule that after marriage Man will go to his Wife's house to stay rather than Woman staying in Husband's house. Man can still support his parents financially. This would solve many unnecessary problems.

Wellsaid Joyson, that is exactly what I was telling husbands of DILs whom the MIL and FIL made to undergo drudgery. He will defend his parents to no end but never thinks his wife need rest to bear and raise children, his parents is not his only responsibility.

We Indians are a funny breed. When its time to give Dowry, we do it diligently no matter how difficult it is because its our daughter who will face trouble if we tighten our fist. When its time to receive dowry, no matter how many times we advised others against it, we don't let our chance go.

Why are we waiting for a law or police to sort out the matters when we ourselves complicate the things ?

RIP. Very sad. Sometimes couples or members of family fight for silly reasons. These fights instead of dying down becomes big when not discussed and sorted out. It do not mean that they do not love each other. Fight happens mostly because of ego prevailing over love.

always try to please family deities...whichis part of life..and protecting us in disguise.

that's the reason our forefathers made customary to worship it once in a year by assembling all together as much as family members.

some people who left there moola stana..for sake of livlihood and never return are facing such problems without knowing.
god is almighty..but alsl given power to his subordinates to run this world.

sub ordinates conducting there job by listening order of god..are called angels or lords or ganas.

as an organization cannot run without various departments same system apply in this world. whatever with god is showered on human beings exactly and we are one of part of it.

@Chandan Kumar mangalore.luknow,Dear chandan,as you say about to please house deity,it can be done to a deity who cant be seen with normal eyes.what about house deity living together with family, keeps a watching eye to the new comer, always making her life miserable, and not least ,not pleased with dowry brought, demanding more?Such deitys are more dangerous than anything else.Better stay seperate, when family life is not possible.Sad she ended her life, could have taken some advice from other people with her problems. Many house wives without any education really suffer ,because they dont know what to do.May their souls rest in pay.I am sure because of her suecide, rest too must have done not to get in police problems.

My views might little bit different to the article. but it is the real truth.

the government should pass a bill for the dowry, dowry should be banned for all (Uniform law), no discrimination. asking for any kind of favour (Dowry) should be made as punishable offense. we can save thousand of innocence lives.

People are more worried about TRIPLE TALAK (which has least effect) compared to other kind of issue's we are facing in day to day life.

    Achchu,

I disagree to your perspective. Its that, when the husband saw his wife hanging, he was certain that the police/law will grind him thoroughly due to prevailing dowry matters. So, out of fear as well as guilt, he hanged himself. Seeing son and DIL both hanging, the father too knew that he can't handle the legal complications, hence he too hanged.

Ironically, if any of them had seen the suicide note, both would have deviated from ending their life and would have pretended to be too much distressed by her death. Well now, all three are in some other world - let them deal with it, why shall we worry ?
