Kuwait: 25th show of ‘Maim Pai Tim Maim Pai’ tiatr on May 19

Kuwait, May 10: Director Domnic Fernandes a Kuwait-based Goan from Raia, who has done extremely well with his tiatr ‘Maim Pai Tim Maim Pai’ in his native land, is set to stage its 25th performance of the play in Kuwait at SIMS school, on May 19.

The play has run 24 shows all over Goa recently.

‘Maim Pai Tim Maim Pai’, is said to be based on a true story in Kuwait and casts some well-known Goan artistes and a crew of some uncut diamonds. A pack of Kuwait stars and musicians will feature in the 25th show.



A number of passionate Goan directors based abroad have staged plays back in Goa, which was no easy task living abroad. Jose Rod, and late Rosary Ferns have been among the most successful overseas dramatists to have drawn a large audience in Goa, maintaining high standards, and keeping up the name of Goan expatriates.

Expressing extreme joy on the stunning success of his play, Domnic said, “I hope the message portrayed in the drama reaches far and wide especially people working abroad, which has been my main aim in producing ‘Maim Pai Tim Maim Pai’.”

Domnic’s previous plays

Domnic’s last play ‘Amchem Khoim Chukta Sodun Kadd’, a tiatr with a solid theme and dialogues was staged all over Goa during the monsoon of 2014. It did well and received rave reviews for its script, comedy and songs in almost every media portal and among the audience.

The play was later released on a DVD format.

Domnic expressed profound optimism in his vision to uplift the Konkani language and art. “With the encouragement I receive from Goan friends and well-wishers especially in Kuwait, I am inspired to do much more for my Goa and Konkani language,”  said the ever humble director.

About Dominic Fernandes

An in-built passion for plays, acting and singing caused Dominic Fernandes to begin acting and directing plays at a tender age of 14 years. His first play was ‘Dothiche Axek Lagon’.

Domnic later went on to stage ‘Piso’, ‘Dukh’, ‘Posro’ which accomplished 23 shows, and many others, all over Goa.

Under DA Production, he wrote and directed ‘Zomnivele Khell’ during the Carnivals for 5 consecutive years. The first play was directed when he was just 17 years old in the late ‘80s, he also acted in Khell of Milagres de Ganapoga, Raia.

Grandson of the famous San Joao, and son to Joao and Pedrinha, Domnic is happily married to Concy Cardozo and has 2 children – Danisha Jewel and Chrisanne Pearl.

Domnic has been working in Kuwait since 2001 and is strongly involved in supporting church activities, Konkani language and dramatics.
The passionate director travelled to Bahrain and Dubai and sang in shows whereafter he remained one of the most popular figures among 'Kuwaitkars'.

Domnic is the president of the popular Kuwait Konknni Mogi (KKM), an organization enriching Konkani language and plays among Goans for quite some years. Along with KKM, Domnic has been instrumental in presenting regular Konkani shows in Kuwait for the last 5 years.
