Mangaluru, May 9: Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday May 9 arrived in the city en route to attend the marriage of the daughter of Kaup MLA and former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake here. The wedding ceremony is being held at TMA Pai Convention Centre in the city.

Speaking to reporters after landing at Mangaluru International Airport here, Siddaramaiah answered a query on the allegations of benami assets against his son, and said that the charges were 'baseless'.

Asked whether the allegations were politically motivated, he said, "Yes, I think so."

Regarding the possibility of appointment of new KPCC office-bearers, he said it was up to the Congress high command, and that the state Congress would follow its instructions on the matter.

On whether some Congressmen had complained about him to Congress Karnataka in-charge K Venugopal, he brushed aside the question and declined to comment.

Regaring Congress nominee for the three vacant MLC posts, he said, the party has already sent three names to the high command. "After scrutiny, the high command will decide on it," he said.

The CM was accompanied by minister Pramod Madhwaraj.

District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, mayor Kavita Sanil, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde and other Congress leaders welcomed the CM at the airport.
