Udupi, May 8: A factory manager near here died on the spot after a large heavy iron gate fell on him. The incident happened at Western Meta Chem, situated in front of Barkur National College on Monday, May 8.

Nagesh (22) originally from Hassan, is the victim who died. He was staying in Kota.

Nagesh was the manager in Western Meta Chem, a factory in which a chemical for mixing with sand was being manufactured. The factory is owned by Ambalpady resident Suresh Shetty.

The gates of the factory are so heavy that eight people are required to lift them. The gate was erected by shoddy work without using a hook. The gate fell on the head of Nagesh when he was trying to open it. As it was very heavy, he died on the spot.

The negligence factory owner Suresh Shetty is said to be the cause of the accident.

This is a very sad incident where a innocent factory manager has to die without any clue about this death. May his soul rest in peace.

When the news report says that the gate was erected by shoddy work without using a hook and because of sheer negligence of the owner of Western Meta Chem, now need to check his factory license and how he is operating this factory....

Why use such a heavy big gate without proper installation which costed managers life. Let the Factory pay suitable compensation to the family of the deceased. RIP

Reckless and Kamchor attitude (very much common locally) resulted in the death of an innocent young man! Responsible deserve punishment! Why they wanted such a heavy gate when they could not handle appropriate installation! Shoddy work for sure and don't care attitude!!
