Ballari, May 1: In a chilling incident which happened at Havambavi on Siruguppa Road in the outskirts of the city, a farmer was found to have been murdered and then torched along with his motor bike. The incident happened late night on Saturday April 29.

The murdered man has been identified as Venkatarami Reddy (42), native of Prakasam district of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh state.

Apparently the killers initially sprayed chilly powder on the face of Reddy before attacking him with beer bottles. After the victim breathed his last, they burnt his body and motor bike by starting fire on the spot before fleeing.

The identity of the murdered person was established on the basis of the footwear lying at the spot, registration number of the two-wheeler, and with help from some relatives of the deceased. It is said that the victim had differences with some persons over financial issues. It is suspected that this might be the reason behind this gruesome murder.

A complaint about this murder stands filed in rural police station here. Police are investigating.
