Puttur: Hit by Maruti van, woman gets killed

Puttur, Apr 29: After a Maruti Omni car knocked her down, a woman lost her life on the spot at Atur downtown in Ramakunja village on Uppinangady-Subrahmanya state highway on the evening of Friday April 28. The victim of the accident was Chandravathi (45), daughter of the late Ramanna Poojary from Kudkoli in Ramakunja.

Chandravathi was returning home after visiting a bidi branch located at Atur when the accident happened. She was crossing the road to reach her home when the van that was moving towards Uppinangady from the direction of Kadaba crushed her. As soon as the vehicle hit her, Chandravathi fell down. The wheels of the van moved over body, killing her instantly.

Chandravathi had lost both her parents a few years back. She was given shelter by a relative, Kudkoli Krishnappa Poojary, in his home. She was unmarried. Kadaba police have registered a case.
