Udupi: Man falls into well, family member rushes to rescue - Both die

Udupi, Apr 28: In a tragic incident, two persons lost their lives after accidenally falling into a well at Subramanyanagar here on Friday April 28.

The deceased have been identified as Lokesh (24) and his cousin Honnappa Gowda (45).

It is said that they were cleaning the well when Honnappa accidentally slipped and fell in. Lokesh rushed to his rescue, but he too met a tragic death.

The well is over 60 ft deep and it is said that both the persons died due to asphyxiation.

It is learnt that Lokesh and Honnappa along with three others, including two children, live in a house at Subramanyanagar. They are engaged in making and selling home-made sweets and confectionaries, it is said. On Friday, Lokesh and Honnappa decided to clean the well in front of their house, ending in tragedy.

Basically from Beltangady, the family had shifted to Udupi about four or five years ago.

It is alleged that the fire personnel arrived late at the spot.

Bodies were retrieved and shifted to hospital for post-mortem.

Udupi town police have registered a case.

    Lokesh died due to his passionate love for his cousin Gowda who had fallen in the process of which he had to give up his own life.
    I am sure God will reward him and his cousin the eternal reward.RIP...
