Mangaluru Apr 27: “Dakshina Kannada stands at the second position in installing roof top solar power plant next to Bengaluru city,” said Chief Whip of Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza.

Addressing news conference here on Thursday April 27, he said, “We had already started campaigning in the district on installing roof top solar power plant. So far we have installed it in Deputy Commissioner and MUDA offices. The installation of solar roof top at Mangaluru City Corporation has been approved. Even 50% of police stations have installed solar roof top. NITTE, Yenapoya and Mangaluru University have also sent a proposal to install such solar roof top. This is nothing but profitable scheme and even bank have agreed to provide loans. In future before May 15, we will organize ‘Solar Debt Expo’ in the city.”

“I also informed MESCOM officials to conduct meetings with the members who have installed solar roof top and give green certificate and appreciation memento for those who have installed solar roof top. We have announced solar roof top with 3 kilo-watt in 50 schools in the district. So far 10 schools have installed out of which six schools have already inaugurated solar roof top,” he added.

List of ten schools which have installed solar roof top are- St Joseph Higher Primary school Kankanady, DK District Zilla panchayath School Puttur, Government high school Bantwal, Government high school Koila, Government First Grade College Mudipu, Government First grade college Puttur, Government First Grade College Sullia, Government Higher Primary School Belthangady, Kuvempu higher primary school Shakthinagar, Sri Ramashrama High School Konchady.
