New Delhi: Constable Tej Bahadur Yadav dismissed from BSF

New Delhi, Apr 19 (DHNS): BSF on Wednesday dismissed Constable Tej Bahadur Yadav, whose video post on poor food being served to security personnel deployed on Line of Control (LoC) went viral, citing gross indiscipline.

The action against Yadav came after a Court of Inquiry (CoI) found Yadav guilty of violation of service rules by taking his grievances to public domain rather than raising it with his superior officers.

“BSF court has found him guilty on certain charges of indiscipline. He has been dismissed from service today, following provisions of BSF Act and rules. Individuals have options to appeal against the verdict in three months,” a senior BSF official told DH.

The Constable had earlier applied for voluntary retirement but the force had recalled the order it on the ground that a Court of Inquiry on his claims and disciplinary proceedings against him was pending. Yadav's family had alleged that he was being "threatened and tortured mentally" and was under arrest.

The video posted on Facebook in early-January by Yadav detailing about the poor quality of food had went viral, prompting the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to intervene.

Soon after the video went viral, the BSF had pointed fingers at Yadav, saying he was an "alcoholic" and court-martialled. The BSF also said that he was allowed to continue in service after the force thought about his family.

The BSF was of the view that there was no shortage of rations at any post and that security personnel deployed along the borders never complained about the food. It also issued fresh guidelines for maintaining a high quality of food for its personnel.

The force also directed its special snoop teams to check on the morale of the personnel and said instances of complaints being voiced via the social media were being dealt with "strictly".

Around half-a-dozen such videos emerged soon after Yadav's post complaining about various grievances. A CRPF personnel came out with a video post addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding parity on facilities with military.

The posts of military personnel also came to fore protesting against the 'sahayak' system and it prompted Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat to issue a stern warning not to use social media for grievance redressal.

If Tej Bahadur is not spoken through Tweet , nation would have still unaware of dilapidated condition of our soldiers patrolling the border.
By strangulating voice of dissent BSF has legalised corruption instead of providing justice or ordering an internal enquiry.
Now one can imagine why our soldiers moral is very low. Why we have so much combat casualty despite best training in the world available.

He might have been dismissed and made his own life miserable, but the poor man probably have helped lakhs of BSF personnel to get better amenities. Discipline does not mean letting corrupt to flourish. Indians want their soldiers to be provided with necessities. Period. If bhakths got a problem then let them cry from roof top. Indians unite not only for navy solider Yadav who got death sentence in Pakistan for injustice, same Indians will unite for justice of this BSF soliders as well. I am sure.

Those who say ‘I support the soldier’ really do not support them. Soldiers are being used as pawns by these pseudo-nationalist bhakts whose main intention is to promote Mr. 56incheswar.

    Rajnut,

Shame on you and your Ministry for supplying sub-standard food to BSF Jawan's who guard our borders of our country in extreme weather and very stressful conditions....

You should have Court Marshalled those who took commission from the food supplied to the soldiers....

If you cannot provide good food, uniform, arms, equipment to our soldiers you are unfit to be our Home Minister...you are only fit to fire missiles through your mouth...

If somebody criticizing Modi govt, they are branded as Anti nationals. If a jawan complained about poor quality food and treating him as a slave of higher officer, he is sacked from the job. What is going on in India under Modi regime????

Within the armed forces, indiscipline will not be tolerated. Mr. Tej Bahadur Yadav, should have followed the proper way to address his grievance. Not through facebook!

And what is the proper way to address his grievance ? To complain to the same person by whom they are being exploited ? Mr. Shankar, when people do not get justice and are extremely hopeless and exhausted, they try every method to get justice. By dismissing constable, it is proved that poor people will not get justice. Let us think for a while Tej Bahadur is wrong and he is punished. Is there any action initiated/taken against those wolves who provide sub standard food to our brave soldiers who risk their life on the border ?

Army, BSF and Police runs on a very disciplined system. Any deviation, if not addressed appropriately, the whole system might collapse, which no one wants.

Mr. Yadav could have shown the same videos to his superiors as proof. When your immediate supervisor doesn't respond, there are provisions to approach the higher officials. Either Mr. Yadav was not aware of the options or he acted on some vested interests.

Anyways this dismissal was called for.
