Udupi, Apr 19: The 34th anniversary of Geleyara Balaga, Marpalli and the ninth anniversary of Mahila Mandali was celebrated on Tuesday April 18. Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the anniversary celebrations and addressed the gathering.

“Youth power is the asset of the country. The role played by groups and associations in developing gramas is crucial. The development of gramas is not possible if we just wait for local associations to do the work. But, indulging in pro-people work in the villages will not only help locals but will also be appreciated by them,” said Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake.



“Several development programmes have already been conducted here. Permanent facilities for drinking water and construction of roads will take place with special funds from the government,” he added.

Korangrapady CA bank chief manager Shekar Suvarna Marpally who was promoted recently and retired Anganwadi assistant Malathy Raghupathi Rao were felicitated on the occasion.

Marpalli Mahalingeshwara temple priest Prasanna Upadhyaya presided over the programme. Devadigara Yuva Vedike president K S Prabhakar, president Panduranga Naika, women's wing honorary president Anuradha Uday, president Nirupama Shetty, senior member Narayana Naik and Ramesh Marpalli were present.

Sangha honorary president Kunhimonu welcomed everyone. Secretary Umesh Marpalli read the report. Joint secretary Sadashiva Acharya proposed the vote of thanks.

Members of the Balaga presented a tulu comedy play 'Bai Budier Babanne', written by Venur Ravichandra B Salian and directed by Nithyananda Shettigar Kukkikatte, as part of the entertainment programme. Women members performed Tulunada Vaibhava programme.
