Pak playing dangerous game in Jadhav's case: Parrikar

Panaji, Apr 14 (PTI): Former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said Pakistan is playing a "dangerous game" in the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, sentenced to death in the neignbouring country on charges of spying.

"Pakistan is playing a dangerous game. Pakistan should understand that if India starts retaliating then it does not have the power to fight back, whatever they may project themselves to be," the Goa Chief Minister told the Doordarshan in an interview which was aired this evening.

"But, we want peace. We do not want provocation. So they should send Jadhav back," he said.
"First of all, they have abducted him. He was not in Pakistan. He was in Iran. Iran has said that the Taliban kidnapped him and took him to Pakistan. Pakistan has a habit of doing something or other," Parrikar said.

"....(External Affairs Minister) Sushma Swaraj has given an apt reply -- 'we will not keep quiet' (if Pakistan executes Jadhav). The country will do what is required. We can take care of Pakistan if it tries to do anything ill-advised," he said.

A military court in Pakistan has sentenced Indian naval staff Jadhav to death for alleged espionage. The Indian government reacted strongly to the development saying if the sentence were to be carried out it would be considered as "pre-meditated murder".

Can Parikkar explain with clear conscience, what was Jadhav's mission in Iran in the first place?

How can Jadhav be kidnapped in Iran and send to Pakistan? The moment Jadhav was caught I was convinced that he was a spy although Indian channels are shouting otherwise to convince the public. In fact the worse happens when a Pakistani gets caught in India. Pakistanis never accept him and apply all tricks possible to deny wrongdoing.

It is not a secret that India and Pakistan both send their spies to destabilize each other. Unfortunately Jadahav was caught and now making arrogant statements will only worsen his case. Pakistan is likely to use Jadhav as a bargaining chip to get something in return through backdoor talks. Fortunately some in India still have some channels open with like minded influential people in Pakistan and we can hope they will be able to get something positive out of it.

People do no know ABCD of defence and are telling here that Parrikar is the worst defense minister... Those people should speak to the people in defence circles to know what changes he has made in the defence sector...

During UPA government, every year we heard of one or the other defense-related scam, but can anyone point out any defence-related scam under Parrikar?

People shouldn't forget that under him the OROP was implemented.. Earlier government wanted MMRCA to go through, but parrikar had it cancelled and big boost was given to HAL/ADA to complete Tejas Mark1, Tejas Mark 2 and AMCA..

As per the CAG in UPA-2 , if India goes to war we had ammunition supplies lasting only for 30-40 days, But under Parrikar this was rectified and by 2016 we had storage of critical ammunitions supplies lasting for 100+ days

I don't want to go to more specifics about defence procurement under Parrikar, since this is a public news portal ..

    Mr. Manohar Parrikar,
When you were Defense Minister you never uttered a word & you slept in most of the meetings. Here is what is going on social media about Manohar Parrikar.

TIME FOR MANOHAR PARRIKAR TO QUIT AND LEAVE GOA IN PEACE

Manohar Parrikar has finally confessed what we all knew, that he quit as Defence Minister because he could not take the pressure of the job. Infact due to his disastrous performance as Defence Minister, PM Modi was just waiting for an opportunity to bundle him out. It was on account of this that Manohar Parrikar craftily plotted his return to Goa by stage managing the Goa Forward and MGP to lay a pre-condition that their support to the BJP was subject to him being made the C M.

Infact as Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was found very frequently falling asleep inside and outside Parliament. Infact reportedly the heads of the three services of the Indian Armed Forces had reportedly conveyed to the Prime Minister their grave concern that the Def Min was frequently snoring even during key meetings. And rightly key issues like Kashmir could never be resolved with the Defence Minister dozing off. There were other concerns also expressed about the functioning of Manohar Parrikar.

Modi was apparently not even keeping Def Min Manohar Parrikar in the loop, as he would go abroad and work out defence deals whilst Manohar Parrikar would be loitering in Goa and even on one occasion was inaugurating a fish stall whilst Narendra Modi was finalising the Rafaele deal in Paris.
There has been a mistaken belief that Manohar Parrikar who is an IITian is a smart man. Having read his file notings there is no doubt that even an 8th Std student would out beat him in essay writing. Manohar Parrikar has lost his sheen after trying to govern by politics of bullying, revenge, retribution and blackmail which he could not resort to while in Delhi. May be its time for him to hang its boots before he loses his few remaining marbles.
