Bengaluru: VHP objects to American preachers' programme in high school

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Apr 8: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has raised objections against the participation of American religious preachers in a programme of religious instruction being organized at St Joseph Convent Girls High School hall on Saturday April 8 and Sunday. This programme has been arranged by Holy Spirit Generation Church.

American preachers, Patricia King, and Donna Schambach, have arrived at the city on April 3 to take part in the said programme. Vishwa Hindu Parishad activist, Gireesh Bhardwaj has filed complaint with Foreigners Regional Registration Office officials on Friday April 7, alleging that the two preachers, who are on a visit to the country on conference visas, are violating the rules and taking part in religious propagation.

Bhardwaj says that the two preachers, who belong to XP Ministries have violated visa rules by visiting India to take part in religious conversion activities organized by local church. He said that as per visa rules, foreigners cannot undertake religious instruction and propagation in India, and that Indian government cannot issue visas to preachers who want to take part in religious programme. He noted that these foreigners had sought visa to take part in religious campaign and misled the Indian embassy.

Rajendra, organizer of 'Power and Reality of the Kingdom prayer', clarified that only Christians take part in the programme where messages from God would be relayed. He said that this programme is held every Sunday and this Saturday. He is not sure whether this programme would be held on Sunday, but asserted that no religious conversions are taking place.

At the same time, Donna Schambach, who had tweeted in her twitter account on April 6 about the programme, deleted the same after Gireesh filed complaint. Gireesh had filed screen shots of the tweets along with his complaint. Keshav Naik, a Bajrang Dal leader, has complained to Pulakeshinagar police station here, claiming that a conspiracy to convert Hindus by offering lure of money in the guise of religious instruction is going on at the said programme, and has asked the police to stop the same.

Additional police commissioner, Hemant Nimbalkar, said that he had visited the high school hall and obtained details from the organizers. He stated that the organizers have confirmed that this programme has nothing to do with religious conversions. He said that if law is violated, the concerned would be brought to book.

These VHP. BD should be counter booked for false allegation and accusations about conversions and interferring in religious matters of other community and spoiling school's name.

FIR should be lodged against so called leader of VHP alongwith support of foriegners. Should give them taste of their own medicine.

Similarly, ISKON which is luring foreigners should be banned all over the world.

The biggest problem for non-Christians is the truth preached by Christianity. That hurts them very much as that shows mirror to their deeds. They only accuse Conversion but they don't have proof. They try their level best to produce fake proof which does not stand in any court. The truth preached by Christians is universal and sure way for moksha but in-digestible to them. That is what St. Paul says we the Christians should be "Better apologetics" in our works and deeds to spread the "Good News" to one and all. Once they know the truth, the truth will set them free.

Do not be a supremacist. There are no exemplary cultures a cross the world. Each religion has something good and some flaws. Hinduism by and large is not supremacist therefore it is more secular amongst all the religions.

    Dear Rajesh,

Please think before you talk, and know that there are two faces for each coin..
What do you think if you spread hatred among Christians and Hindus in India you will be happy ?
Brother think that you are encouraging to sprout the hatred among your bothers and sisters.
And remember that most of our brothers and sisters live in USA and other christian dominant countries.
Remember we are peace loving people dont make such comments and spoil our reputation.

When Sri.Vivekananda Sawmi went to US in 1893 we showed to the world how Hindus are peace loving people and till now many foreigners (Christians) follow hindusim..
Its choice of each person to follow the Truth according to his understanding, i and you cannot force him.. we can only teach..

Hope you understand my words and teach same to your people around you.

......it gives as other religions are under fear i believe. Christianity which is open to all, gives freewill to follow or not and shown who God is that too by God himself revealing to humans and not through the Prophets only. Most of all, the message of Lord Jesus Christ of peace, love and sacrifice is clear who did as preached .
John 10:38 ...but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father."

We Hindus believe in one God and call him in different names... we are God loving people... We are NOT God fearing.. God is there to protect us.. For us, those who are wicked must fear the God for their bad deeds.. why fear if you did not do anything wrong? Have faith... visit temple or just worship your own parents or teacher or even a cow or tree or which ever you see divinity... u are free ... we are not restricted to follow any particular rule...

You will get Moksha based on your Karma., not based on the number of visits to temple... God is not a school headmaster watching if you are coming or not... He will protect us and guide as long as we are in the righteous path...noting is instantaneous… but we need to have that faith.. that’s what I feel

We Christians are NOT worried about the numbers. We believe in quality, the real discipleship. I was born and brought up in a neighborhood in Mangalore, surrounded by my wonderful Hindu friends/families. I learnt from them the Hindu culture and faith. And they too learnt from us, Protestant Christian family, living in peace, understanding and brother/sisterhood. Later had Muslim neighbors, learnt from them their utter discipline about prayers in Mosques.
We study in the theological colleges in India and overseas different religions and most of us (theological graduates have copies of Bhagavadgita and Quran).
To me, God of my Hindu, Muslim brothers/sisters is the same who created me!
We all belong to the same Divine Spirit! Why are we fighting against each other?
We, Christians are going to observe the Holy Week from Sunday, April 9. Our focus is on the Cross of Christ who changed the course of history. Be blessed my friends, God loves you all! So, as children of the same God, let us love each other.

The fact is that Christianity is facing the biggest threat ever in history now. There are no external enemies here. It is neither Hinduism nor Islam which is threatening Christianity.

The west, I mean the educated, liberal thinking west, is so forward that they question whatever, which leaves even a thin string of doubt. Not attending the church masses is no longer a self pricking sin. The priests have lost the command and authority because of some black sheep in the herd. They cant order people to attend the mass.
The Pope want to liberalize Christianity. The orthodox ones are not happy with the liberal Pope. Altogether, Christianity is in the crossroads.

The orthodox ones, see only a ray of hope in countries with population and opportunity for conversion. They see Philippines as the role model. The church in Philippines is as strong as Vatican, financially. So India is still a soft target for religious conversions.

I reiterate again, there is nothing to worry about if your faith on your religion is strong.

Why these missionaries state the exact reason of their visit when they apply for Visa?

They know that they are doing something wrong. That is why they hide the facts!

    Shankar Anna,

Based on your previous comments, I do know that you have seen the visa application form. There is no item to list other than conference as the reason of their visit when they apply for Visa.

Even Embassy staff normally request to use the conference as reason for visit, these people visit several places to attend conferences and supported by Indian Catholics.

When Chaddis visiting other countries for religious programmes, westerners are neither worried nor threatened or scared of conversation because they consider the religion is a personal business, reason of such thinking is that they are Human beings of Civilized countries

If VHP has so many problems with christian colleges then why in the first place they send their kids to chirstian institutions. Send them to a local shakha wherein their kids end up studying Gau mata and take India to the stone age.

Who is VHP to oppose them? If visa norms are violated its immigration authorities who should be acting. Our govt has given free hand to these gautankwadis. Very soon we will see our airports arrivals will be guarded by these thugs and will allow entry only to the like minded people. Wake up ppl its going out of our hands.

    Mr. Zubair,

Do you think Gulf countries allow if any other Religion people from India apply Visa for the purpose of Preaching other religious matter in their country ?

Or do they allow preaching in Schools for other religion?

Don't make India so cheap, anyone can visit India and do what they want. At least maintain the Respect of India.

Sirish, don't drag all Gulf countries in one line. Last week I was in Bahrain wherein there was retreat in the church by a guest priest from India. Didn't the priest get visa from Bahrain govt. to visit for his mission ? No Bahrainis or any other people raised any objection because they know their people are very strong in their faith and nothing can convert them. It is only chaddis who are very much shaky in their faith and out of that fear they object preachers visit. The preacher is conducting program exclusively for christian and it is withing the school. So, why chaddis feel suffocated ? We need more programes to shed light in the darkness.

Water can dissolve salt because the positive part of water molecules attracts the negative chloride ions and the negative part of water molecules attracts the positive sodium ions.
Same people are afraid that they may dissolve the people as their faith is only like salt????

So many Swamis, Sants, Sadhus, Sadhvis have visited other countries and preached there as well without any hassles. Now it's time for other countries to think the way Indians think.

What happens if others preach here in India? They believe that many may convert? Ithna kamzor aapka dharm hai kya????

Freedom of speech, and freedom to practice one's Faith is guaranteed by the Indian constitution. Religious Faith Preachers and Practitioners can exercise their constitutional rights, regardless of the opinions of any other citizens or groups. .. Pretty much it is true with all the democracies and many Sheikhdoms of the world.

Have you ever asked this question when Indian Swamiji's visited foreign countries, especially UK / US this question. Haven't you seen Many foreign nationals visit Many Matts, Temples, religious places, and so on... and wearing dhoti and reciting.. that time why no RSS / VHP and other religious sect did not react.

Again, It is Indian Government issued the Visa which is led by BJP. If you think in the modern world religious conversion takes place just overnight, then i must admit that, it is big miracle by itself. Why are you people so scared?
