Mangaluru, Apr 7: Maintaining a strong employer-employee relationship is the key to the ultimate success of an organisation, said Chicago-based Konkani writer, dramatist and social worker Dr Austin D'Souza Prabhu, at a seminar held at SDM College of Business Management here on Thursday, April 7.

Speaking on the subject 'Top management resource - employees' organised by Mangalore Management Association (MMA), he said, "Compliment, encouragement and recognition of employees pave the way for success in business. Treating employees as subordinates will not help an employer. Every employer should take employees as part of the industry' or firm's growth. A strong relationship will be more productive, more efficient, create less conflict and be more loyal. Strong employment relations create a pleasant atmosphere within the work environment.

"The top resources of a company are its employees. Ignoring them will cost the management. Companies that invest into employee relations programmes have experienced increase in productivity, which in turn leads to increase in profits. When I was serving as the general manager of Deltrol Fluid Products in Chicago, I used to interact with all my subordinates. I listened to them and took their suggestions. It helped our company. I used to encourage employees providing incentives for their good work," he said.

"Celebrations, get-togethers and awards makes employees feel that they are a part of the company. Providing salary hikes automatically increases the quality of work," he added.

Dr Devaraj K, director, SDM Centre in his presidential speech, appreciated Dr Austin’s achievements in Chicago. "The present scenario where Indians are being sent back home, is not a good sign for the development of USA," he said.

M R Vasudeva, former director of Mangalore Airport and president of MMA, lauded Austin’s dedicated work and love towards motherland.

Earlier, J G Anchan, vice-president, MMA welcomed the gathering. H R Alva, life member, MMA, introduced Austin to the gathering. Concepta Fernandes compered the programme.

Prasanna Malya, secretary, MMA delivered the vote of thanks.

Employer-Employee relationship key to success in business - Dr Austin Prabhu. =
I agree with you 200% Dr.Austin. Where there is no Employee & Employer relationship.. there is a Business Loss Net Loss or Bankruptcy or Close out.
Simple Easy Rule- Eg: Count it from Colie or regular workers(Don't have to go to top corporate level)...if that Colie don't work in absence of landlord or too LAZY instead of too BUSY .. is there is a GAIN for LANDLORD? or PAIN for money?

Employer/Employee relationship is vital. But mere keeping employee happy company does not grow. All client/Emplyer/Emplyee all 3 need to be happy but this is not guarantee company will grow! There are other major aspects too. See hypothitical examples below

    (a) Employee was unfair to client. Ememployer instead of advising employee whats right supports Employee . This may strenghen employer relationship with Employee but Employee gets unefair day by day .

(b)Employer Does not want the employee to attend calls on holidays but same Employer sends his Employee to client after office hours or off day .

    (c) A insurance agent ( example in DXB) gets huge business from a good client . One day agent asks client to give personal help . Client Obliges 3 times . Agent Does not return money after 3rd help and lies. Client asks employer to interfere . Employer Says its personal matter and snubs and has no courtsey. Employer does not realise a unethical employee will spoile cos name eventually and does not bother to advise . News spreads and business falls as employer keeps a cheat employee and does not advise

    (d) Some Exachange Companies do not pay their employees well and eat profits made by employee themselves . Same employer says my employee works for me for 25 Year and i take care of him. Employer has not helped the emploee at difficult time . What Employerdoes is to smartly please the employee with his dramatic artful talk, Cunning Smile and fool the Empolyee. Employee respects this employer despite employer has no regard for employee. Employer does not settle his dues either. Employee says hes very happy

(g)A employer bit rude but takes Care Of Employee and helps emplyee. Despite all Help taken employee only remembers rudeness . Employer is straightward but employee does not appreciate it. Employer settles dues but employee does not remember his goodness and leaves
