Mangaluru, Apr 6: Enraged by the activities of a goat, a youth thrashed an old couple and their son living in the neighbourhood with a rod, leaving them bruised and injured. The incident happened near Belaringe, a little away from Kinya school, Ullal, during late night on Wednesday April 5. All the three, who suffered injuries in this incident, stand admitted into a private hospital at Deralakatte where they are being treated.

Janardhana Alva (70), his wife, Pushpavati (52), and son, Ajit (30), living at Kinya Belaringe, were at the receiving end of this brutal attack. The family members have accused a neighbour, Safaq (28), of launching this attack with support from his brother.

Safaq who arrived at the courtyard of Janardhana when the family was watching a television programme on Wednesday night, began to hit their dog with a rod. When Janardhana objected to this, Safaq reportedly turned his ire towards the senior citizen and started to attack him with the rod. When his son, Ajit, tried to block him, Safaq attacked him too with his hands, it is said. When Pushpavati came forward to defend her family, Safaq also beat her up. It is said that Safaq's brother supported this attack during which death threat was also posed.

It is said that a goat belonging to Safaq's family used to enter the backyard of Janardhana's house and devour shoots and saplings of areca nut. As this problem continued for several days, Janardhana, who was aggrieved, visited the residence of Safaq and asked his father to tether the animal. Still, the family did not confine the goat, and the goat entered the courtyard of Janardhana as usual on Wednesday too. The family members had got angry, and had chased the goat away. Safaq, who was enraged at this development, attacked Janardhana and others with a rod, the injured persons stated.

Ullal police have registered a case. They are investigating the complaint.

People who do not take care of their livestock should be put in jail for being irresponsible. If the owner of the goat can't feed it... then why is he even owning.

This is what we got for being so good and kind to this neighbor. Whoever thinks it's cooked story or one sided, please visit hospital in deralkatte or area of my house in kinya. I request people not to comment by reading names of the attackers rather please visit my area and ask neighborhood who are belonging to same religion of the attackers. Then the readers will know truth, It's very easy to comment here but we know what are going through now. Hoping no one should experience this kind of situation when helpless family left at home and get attacked by this kind of people. We are very much greatfull to Daijiworld for releasing the actual incident which will help many to know the real sceniorio. We have full trust in our law and will get justice.

One can understand why people are not renting or selling the apartments to these trouble making communities in Mumbai and other places. Mahatma said if you get a slap, show another cheek. I feel pity for the senior citizens family. God save the country.

Something is cooking. Police should investigate and no political or religious party should intervene. Let the neighbours solve the issue peacefully. In case the Shafaq has attacked Aji and others only due to small issue then he is wrong and in case Ajith attacked first and Shafaq defended himself, Ajith should be hold responsible.

First of all physical assault on elders should be condemned irrespective of the religious background. Intrusion by goat and even if goat was injured while it was being shooed away, should not invite physical assault. Pity the parents of this hot headed youngster let lose like this. Police should do their job and give this guy some time in the confinement to reflect on how to handle his nerves.

Cow and goat becoming popular in India. Murders, physical assaults happening across the country in the name of cows and goats. Attacker should be punished if he found guilty. But this is quarrel between two neighbors and no one should give communal color to this incident. Because saffron brigade in this country already projected Cow as hindu and goat as muslim. Still Chicken have not listed under any religion so far.

@Peter KSA,what do you expect?wounds and blood shed?whatever it is with only torn cloths or wounds, one has no right to attack others, that too fault is on accused side. When one has a animal at home ,should look after well ,with own supplying gras ,or water .Not just shooout in neighbours ground. Many times it comes to quarrel.you dont let your children to eat in others house for ever.Even after repeated warnings and shoeout, come angered and attack the people,is called goodagiri.Looks also so.Such people as a neighbour when you have, then you dont need any enemys.we should always be friendly with neighbours. For any situations emergencys ,sickness, neighbours are the one come first and help.Relations come next.Whatever the story is ,he attacked the people with iron rod. That is not right.
