Udupi: Kaup Press Club hosts friendship, felicitation meeting

Udupi, April 5: “The strengthening of media in the rural area is an indication of social progress. There are substantial changes in the news media and the interest of people on media is also increasing”, said Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was speaking as the chief guest in the friendship gathering and felicitation programme held in Radha Heritage at Kaup sea shore by Kaup Press Club on Sunday, April 2.





“As Kaup is declared as the taluk there are indications of changes”, he said. He assured to try and ensure Kaup Press Club has its own office and sites.  

Adani UPCL group of company’s joint president Kishore Alva speaking after receiving felicitations from Kaup Press Club said that Kaup Press club friends have extended encouragement to conduct development programmes through Adani – UPCL.

“ I am grateful  to be honored by Kaup Press Club for my minor service. Adani UPCL Company will extend its support to rural journalists in the future also. Health cards are being issued through Adani company to journalists earning a low salary,” he said.

Bellary businessman Suresh Shetty Gurme speaking on the occasion said,"We can see upright journalists in rural areas such as Kaup. Their professionalism, sincerity and unity are a model for others.”

Kaup municipal council president Saumya Sanjiva, Kaup Bicco Company head Sridhara Shenava, Sairadha group of company’s head Manohar Shetty conveyed their best wishes to the journalists.

Ramachandra Acharya Padubidri, former president of Kaup Press Club, former chief secretary Rakesh Kunjooru, former treasurer Hameed Padubidri and Press Club manager Santhosh Kaup were felicitated on the occasion.

Balakrishna Poojary Uchila, new convener of Kaup Press Club presided over the programme and welcomed. Sports and cultural secretary Harish Katpadi read the list of winners in competitions. Pundalik Marate Shirva, Karunaker Nayak Padubidri, Pramod Suvarna Katpadi, Vadiraj Rao Nadimane, Asadulla Katpadi introduced the felicities. Committee member Prakash Suvarna Katpadi compered the programme. The new chief secretary of Kaup Press Club Suresh Ermal proposed the vote of thanks. Entertainment competitions were held later.
